I thought Fatukasi was bigger than his listed 295. He looks it on the field because he's a load. I imagine he'll be a two down run stopper and they'll try to keep Rankins healthy by limiting his opportunities early in the season.

Everyone wants to throw money around like it's nothing but when it's not the player they want we may have overpaid?

The 49ers built their defensive line by using 3 top 10 picks over 3 drafts on it. This build is a little different.

Doesn’t mean it won’t work though, but I do agree with you. It works better when the top picks are studs.

Indeed. Q is my new Klecko, and Lawson the new Gastineau

I dont want to throw money around and I love linemen. The game is still won and lost up front. They could sign as many as they want and I'll be happy. However, did they pay too much for a guy that keeps getting injured is a valid concern.

It was less of isolating you, then a general sentiment. I wonder what the contract looks like as it pertains to injury and incentives.

Huff is probably going to be in a battle for his life for a roster spot in all honesty. Especially with this signing.

Honestly, I think Q is watching this unfold thinking he has died and gone to heaven. He will be a terror this year. JD better lock this dude up for the long haul.

I guess Saleh didn't like Foley for the space eater NT type in certain situations. I'm sure they'll rotate though.

I think Huff and JFM can rotate as DE, Fatukasi and Shepherd can be kept for depth to give Williams or Raskin a breather as well.

Zuniga can be kept as depth to give Lawson a breather as well.

Essentially it’s: JFM, Raskin, Williams, Lawson as your first line.

Second line: Huff, Fatukasi, Sheppard, Zuniga.

Unless another DE drops in the draft and falls to Jets.

Guidry will fill the nickel role. He wasn’t bad there last year. Hall I trust as the 2 and expect him to grow ,Austin has the physicality to play well in a zone scheme. Just need veteran presence to help them out a bit

Fatukasi at DE? I can't see that. If anything, I would think Fatukasi would be the starter and Rankin come in on 3rd down or obvious passing downs.

Isn't Guidry pretty much just a slot CB? He has the speed, but not the size to be a very effective outside CB imo.

I haven't seen Raskin play, but since he's a very good pass rusher, it seems to me that it would make more sense to start Fatukasi on 1st and 2nd down, and Raskin come in on 3rd downs and obvious passing situations.

Excellent! That beats the Suck Exchange we've had for the last 15-20 years.

I don’t know what to expect from Austin, I know he was always used in 3-4 man to man, honestly I hope JD addresses the CB spot in the draft if someone falls to him. I really don’t trust Bless.

I’m pleased with how front 4 are being assembled to be honest, won’t hurt to add another DE in draft though.

Really killing the D Line here. Really hope Rankin's Achilles are fresh now and could really really help Q earn a massive contact from us.

Puts the second level a focus for the draft now.

Rush the passer without blitzing and play more zone deep. No more one on one all the time. Make the QB hurry and make mistakes.

We had $26 mill accounting for the draft class prior to his signing.
