Thanks. That's encouraging. I hadn't heard that he had gotten 1st string practice reps.

If Horn is available at 23, he should be the pick. We need a #1 CB and a good OL prospect can be had in round 2.

I don't think JD will be drafting 2 OL this year.....if he does one will be low. He most likely will draft an OG relatively high ( anywhere from #23 to the third round ) and maybe a tackle or a swing later to develop for next year. There are too many other needs and I think he likes to spread the positions around rather than focus on one area for one particular draft.

If Douglas has any questions about Becton's durability he is going to draft an OT on the #2 or trade down in the top 10 and draft an OT at that point.

Agree with everything here. You know how I feel about Toney.

I think FA has at least addressed, if not filled a lot of our needs. IMO there is no greater need than protecting our QB. Whether it's keeping his promise to Sam's parents or protecting the rookie he takes at #2, the OL should be priority #1 after taking a QB at #2. We added Lawson. Huff, Zuniga or someone else can function at the other DE spot this season.

I think that JD's first 5 picks could easily look like one of the following:

    QB, OG, CB, RT, RB

    QB, RT, CB, RB, OG

QB, RT, CB, RB, DE, OG

I would not be ok with OL back to back with those picks, even if it was a RT.

Remember, last year the great JD passed on both Damien Lewis (G) and Cushenberry (c) in the third round for Ashtyn Davis and Zuniga.

Need playmakers at premium positions early.

This is where I believe he messed up. We needed to get two OL even with the FA signings and he waited until day 3 to get the second one.

Our guard situation got worst in free agency. Only the Jets could do that.

Perhaps. We should have an idea this year when we see what we get from Clark, Zuniga and Davis in TC and preseason, and then the season. I think all three could work out, but feel the most confident in Davis and Clark.

Depending on how FA plays out, it looks like 23 and 34 are going to be CB/IOL in some order. They are the two groups that haven't been upgraded, so it stands to reason that JD thinks it can be addressed in the draft. Depending on whatever happens with Darnold, pass rusher could be addressed as well.

Yes as far as #23 and #34 I believe that too....CB and IOL in either order. RB probably in the third round....

I'd be fine with it if the value is there. We've dicked around with mid-round offensive lineman for a decade with no results.

I don't think it will happen though. I'd expect one of Leatherwood/Davis/Eichenberg/Mayfield at 34 and either edge or hopefully a corner like Horn falls. I like Toney a lot too. He's a perfect fit to replace Crowder in the slot moving forward after lighter reps year one.

I agree and that pisses off because we should draft a RB at #34.

This is a big season for those guys.

Just for comparison, both Cushenberry and Lewis started all their team's games and made the all rookie team.

I remember Gase being asked why he wasn't getting game time when hes practicing with the first string and Gase said he didn't want to rush him. Last year was an anomaly, no otas, mini camp, preseason. Tough year for rookies in general. Throw in the early injury and change of position. By the time he was back healthy( late Oct.) His season was pretty much over. Plus the line got healthy and played better down the stretch.

Apparently, this system means we can turn any old RB into a superstar, as long as they are fast, tbh I think Ty Johnson should be given a proper shot, with Adams and Perine as back up, if they are only adequate then we can look for a quality RB next season.

I actually like Ty Johnson and think he can be a valuable piece.

But I think it's time we drafted a stud. That #34 pick is right in the sweet spot for finding a top RB.
