coercion noun co·er·cion | \ kō-ˈər-zhən, -shən \ Legal Definition of coercion : the use of express or implied threats of violence or reprisal (as discharge from employment) or other intimidating behavior that puts a person in immediate fear of the consequences in order to compel that person to act against his or her will
USA Today supposedly interviewed some GMs, who choose to remain anonymous: “It puts things on pause,” one of the GMs said. “If I’m thinking of giving up three No. 1s, not right now. Not until I have some answers and get resolution.” Another GM called it a "major wrench." In addition to vouching for Watson's character on Thursday, before four additional lawsuits were made public Friday morning, the GMs seemed to agree that if they were considering a bid for him, they would not be deterred at this point by the allegations. Even before the allegations surfaced, several league decision-makers expected the Watson saga could drag out until the start of the NFL Draft on April 29, given the draft-pick capital that would likely be at stake. Now there’s another timeline to consider, which coincides with the pace of the legal proceedings and the length and findings of the investigation the NFL has launched to determine whether there have been violations of the league’s personal conduct policy. “Would I still trade for him? Sure,” said one of the GMs. “I would bet on Deshaun. But we would do our due diligence on everything." Another of the GMs echoed such an approach, saying he would not rely solely on the NFL’s investigation. The due diligence would include the team’s own investigation that paralleled the league’s case, typical of how teams conduct background checks on draft prospects. -------------
REVISion, I was actually thinking the same exact thing. Obviously, it doesn't prove/establish guilt, and he hasn't been charged with anything (yet)....but with all of that having been said, the details which have emerged thus far (which you did a great job of concisely recapping above) definitely seem somewhat "sketchy." When I heard about him flying women in from around the country just for a "massage" and reaching out to random women on IG for a "private massage", I thought the same exact thing....why wouldn't you just go to a local, highly rated/ recommended massage therapy place in the Houston area OR simply utilize the services that I am sure are available to any NFL player through your team. I am sure they have professionals on their PT/Training staff who specialize in providing massage therapy to professional athletes. Going the somewhat "sketchy" route he went, obviously seems to imply that he was looking for something more than just a professional massage. Just sayin'.
LOL With what Pace and Nagy are doing to the Bears, you can also thank your lucky stars that you aren't a Bears fan, Pepsiguy5.
yep....Me and Brook! learned that lesson the heard way when we tried to mess with the Johnson brothers!!! Those guys take no prisoners....
holy shit are u for real Falco!! I just read a little while ago that the number was going to be 9 total! it just went up again to 12???!!
I 10000% support investigating the allegations, all I'm saying is it sounds crazy that 22 women have been sexually harassed by a guy with one of the most squeaky clean records you will find and we are just now hearing about it.
BroadwaySam, I get what you are saying and I like you as a poster, but just to play devil's advocate for a second....the Cos has a pretty squeaky clean/family-friendly reputation his entire career/life until he was brought down in his old age!!!! Also Darren Sharper had a pretty solid reputation as well!
I'm gonna counter point this as I have a friend who is a licensed massage therapist and deals with this stuff at times 1) she would simply never do that 2) if anyone suggest as such she would kick them out 3) she only does house calls for clients she knows outside of that only in shop Now with that said watson is a millionaire athlete with access to the best care and massage therapists out there. Teams have their own staff but yeah sometimes players want outside care from the top professionals. which is fine. he lives in houston. I'm sure there are plenty of top massage centers out there. it's a big city. Instead watson was finding massage therapists on instagram even ones out of state and flying them in. why would anyone resort to that who can walk into a top clinic for a massage? it's also no secret many massage therapists do offer happy endings. just ask robert kraft. they are everywhere. it's also well known "escorts" operate on instagram out in the open. but somehow we live in a society that promotes sex work as women empowerment but shames men who are the clients. it makes literally no sense. Personally I don't think it should be illegal. america is a capitalist country. if someone is willing to provide a service and someone is willing to pay for it it should be legal. Obviously i'm not ok with sex trafficking but that isn't willingly. Legalizing it can make it regulated and safer for all involved and stop wasting police time on dealing with someone giving a handy out of their apartment for a fee. It's legal in nevada and no issues have arised out of it. with that said it's pretty obvious watson was looking for hot chicks to get him off. I'm not gonna hate the guy over it personally. He's just an idiot in the way he went about it. even old ass robert kraft was smarter he just picked the wrong spot. Now if he did force them into it with coercion yeah thats wrong but that's going to be hard to prove in court sadly. we'll probably never get the whole story but really nobody here looks smart or good. he should have just flown to vegas and banged all the hookers he wanted to but it's frowned upon and public image is a bitch for a superstar athlete. From a jets point of view though, I wouldn't trade for him until the dust settles which likely means never. now was the best time. instead JD will draft a QB at 2 and we just got to hope for the best
I find it comical that you think an organization that can not win a football game can mastermind a conspiracy of potentially 22 women to take down their starting QB because he wants to leave. That is one for the ages, if you believe that nonsense LOL
https://nypost.com/2021/03/19/tony-buzbee-says-he-has-12-women-filing-deshaun-watson-suits/ Yep, Falco was correct. ^^^^Just dropped a few minutes ago. The number is now up to 12 and rising.....
well his ask price certainly went down real fast...... perhaps JD will put him in touch with the cuomo lawyers and make a bid.
