This would be ideal but I doubt the 9ers accept.

This would be unbelievable poetic justice for Jets fans after the way Adams ran himself out of town.

Yeah but he sucks. Would you trust the worst heart surgeon in the country to teach a student how to operate on a heart because he knows how to do it but he makes mistakes doing it and breaks his hands all the time?

I don’t think he sucks that bad he was in the show 2 seasons ago.. He would be a Tyrod Taylor type place holder. He’s just been a band aid

He threw for 208 yards en route to the show with a touchdown and a pick and then threw two more picks when he got there. He is the king of checkdowns even more than Teddy Checkdown himself. More than a third of his touchdowns came in three games against the god awful Cardinals and Bengals defenses.

Point is - he was hidden. And you don't want him as an example running the system when he's not really how Shanahan (and I imagine LaFleur) want to run their system. They want to bomb it down the fairway bitches. Not throw all those bullshit screens they had to run with him 90% of the time.

Shanahan offence in the passing game is play action and intermediate throws mostly. Jimmy is not a perfect player but if we can rid ourselves of Sam and swap 23 for 12 while letting Wilson develop in practice running the 2s. We are in good shape

Draft a QB bring in Tyrod and promise him the starting job. He has some freak injury has to sit a game or two bring in our rookie he lights it up. Tyrod goes 3 for 3 mentoring young Qbs.

If you draft Wilson you start him. I don't see the point of a bridge.

It's quite a bit of a jump from BYU to Pros. I mean, sure if he picks up things super quickly, there is a chance he will start, but there is nothing wrong in having a bridge at least for part of the season to help the rookie acclimatize. All depends on how quickly Zach is comfortable, and patience is the virtue here. We definitely need a solid vet at least to have that option to sit the rookie for some time. And if he is ready sooner than later, great, having a solid vet as a back-up is a good thing. Just don't rush the rookie.

Steve Young is a Mormon, went to BYU and won 3 Super Bowls
Wilson said he was spiritual but not religious

We agree then. Point was most 1st round QBs play. If it's not game 1 it will be not long after.

I'm fine with grabbing a vet but not with some plan other than he can be a good coach for the rookie. Chase Daniels does it for me.

Even as a supporter of Darnold, it is hard to disagree with this assessment. Especially with how he played in 2020. I feel he can improve and will be better in the future, but these are the reasons why the Jets are looking to upgrade the QB position.

Wow, this is some raving review of Wilson by JT O'Sullivan against a very good defense by any measure of San Diego State. I don't think I heard him being that wowed about any prospect, and listened a lot of his analysis. That's now 3 guys who are VERY respectable QB analysts are raving over Zach: JT, Tim Jenkins, and Simms. Can't wait for his Pro day next Friday and measurements.

I hold JTs assessments of players in high regard. The more of Wilson I watch the more I like. There is only 2 things that bother me about him and that’s his injury history and size. I have said from day one that his accuracy and live arm is really impressive.

I wouldn’t do that. We did that with Sanchez and we destroyed him, we did it with Darnold and destroyed him. We need to learn from this. Players that come from small schools need time in practice to get up to speed. Mahomes, Rodgers, Favre were all groomed for a year. The only way I can see us starting Wilson Day 1 is if we sign CJ Beathard as our back up and Wilson works out with CJ all off-season in preparation for camp. Even then it’s iffy.

I think in general I'm in favor of the sit and wait for a year approach regardless of where they come from. Give the young quarterback a chance to know what the fuck he's doing. The majority (and really all) of these guys have never consistently checked a play at the LOS or helped calling out protections all too much. It comes from the sideline and the center.

They're thrown into the quicksand a bit too quickly.
