Those suggesting that these allegations were first brainstormed by the Texans haven't thought it through. There's a bunch of reasons why this is silly, not least of which is that at some point, the idea must be taken outside the Texans facility and proffered to unscrupulous people as a money-making scheme. Starting at that moment and forever after, anyone involved could expose the plot to the press or a book publisher and cash in. Or one of these people might get arrested for something else and agree to drop a bombshell while negotiating with detectives. Let's try to stay grounded.
Your (somewhat sadly) right Ouchy. Like a destroyer is impressive.... until you run into a battleship. Or a shark... till the megladon shows up and chomps it.
Roethlisberger would likely have been kicked out of the league if the allegations against him had occurred post-Harvey Weinstein. I don't think Deshaun Watson gets a second chance if it turns out he coerced women into performing sexual favors - particularly given that the word rape has already been used in one of the suits. I think he has to win the suits or at least get them dropped to play in the NFL again. Remember, the last thing that Roger wants to do is put that target on the NFL's back. He's already got an owner busted in a massage parlor and who knows who else comes flying out of the woodwork to accuse another NFL personality if it becomes clear the NFL is not taking this seriously.
Well there goes the fantasy trade of 3-4 number one picks for him right down the proverbial drain. Are there any doubts left that the Jets are going with a much different plan? We are back to where we started pre Watson rumors.
You wouldn't BELIEVE what the Texan fans are asking for in Q&A's with John McClain and the other Chronicle writers. 2 #1's this year.....2 #'2s next year and this year.....2 more #1's......Quineen or Becton (or both !!). The writers are a bit more realistic.
Maybe our luck is turning around, SOJ would have been for us to have traded for Watson and this to come out right afterward.
If these allegations are true, I'm pretty sure Watson won't be playing in 2021. But provided he doesn't go to prison, I think he'll be playing again at some point; some owner is going to take the heat out of a desire to win. Even Michael Vick got a second chance, and he went to prison.
Yes, it looks like he coerced a masseuse who was massaging his inner thigh to also give him a happy end.
Women are not dogs. I'm pretty sure if the allegations are true that Watson is done. I'm not at all sure the allegations are true though. If it turns out that sex was an expected part of the transaction he will likely be ok. Sex workers are protected at this point from cancel culture and on the flip side so are their customers as long as everything was consensual and everybody was of age. Well, in most jurisdictions that Watson appears to have been in at the time.
The comparison to Vick was about prison, not the nature of their crimes. Regarding Watson, I wouldn't be surprised if he hired women for "massages," they thought they were giving him massages, and he did what he thought they'd think he would. If so though, that's still sexual assault.
he will be fine and it was only a matter of time before this came out. He's playing hardball with the NFL/Texans and the NFL has a lot of power
The suit alleges that as she was crying, Watson told her: "I know you have a career and a reputation and I know you would hate for someone to mess with yours just like I don't want anyone messing with mine." Oh the irony.
The real question will be whether or not any of his 'victims' had their phone on recording while the alleged abuse took place. If the above was recorded Watson will never play in the NFL again.
Ultimately what will have to be established is that is was coercion, which requires a threat, and not typical male badgering. unfortunately today's narrative has demonized men's desires for sex and dishonestly portrayed completely legal attempts to persuade women for sex as abusive or illegal behavior, but unless there was some sort of threat, either explicitly or intimated, you simply have a guy trying to get off. women will relent to pestering and badgering, and while society may now want to shame men for that behavior it doesn't equate to it being criminal behavior.
