good analogy. it's a thing that is ESSENTIAL at the next level and if you cannot hang, you dont belong.

I said more than a month ago that there were 3 QB's at the top closely ranked as prospects. Any one of these 3 could be considered the best QB 3 years from now. It will depend on the situation they end up in.

    1. Zach Wilson
    2. Trevor Lawrence
    3. Trey Lance

Not only did I think Wilson was 1 but he's the best fit for the Jets offense. Trevor is going to Jax and he is going to get Dinosaur style coaching for his OC.

    Lance is gone by 4.

for me staying at 2 and picking wilson would be soj.

and thats not to say that wilson will suck, im not a fan but thats not the reason for my soj call on this one.

its soj because its literally the 1 thing i hope they dont do. and the jets always in these situations seem to find a way to do the 1 thing i wish they wouldnt do. heres to hoping for the best.

Keep swinging until you get it. The only options here are Wilson or trade the pick and get Watson.

In 2012 there was a Jets scout banging the table for Russell Wilson, but because the Jets had Mark Sanchez, who had played 3 statistically bad years, they passed on him.

In 2017 the Jets passed on Mahomes and Watson because they had Christian Hackenburg.

Jets being SOJ would be passing on Zach Wilson and him becoming the next Rodgers.

Passing on a Qb while the Jets have had a qb playing below average is something the Jets always have done.

The only QB I would trade back for is Lance but there are no guarantees we would get him. He could go as high as 3 and we're not trading with the Dolphins. Therefore we must stay at #2 and take the QB we think is the best prospect. Opinions vary on who is #2, but I will take Wilson over Lance if he checks out healthy.

We need to start thinking about all of our other picks. At #2, we know almost 100% we are taking a QB. The intrigue begins at #23. Personally, I would somehow try and trade into the top 10. There is some serious young talent to he had. You could go TE with Pitts. Waddle at WR, all those CBs & Parsons at LB. I would package the #23 with whatever to move into the top 10. Why not? A new QB and another top 10 ten pick which we could easily get with our assets.

I would also revisit that Sam Darnold 3 team deal with Seattle and Chicago. I would take Khalil Mack. The guy never misses a game, plus he's a pro bowl talent at a position of great need in Saleh's defense. We would have Q upfront, then Mack playing the middle of the field, and Maye guarding the back. We could then build a defense around those 3.

I wonder if they could package Sam and 23/34 to move up with a team like CAR (8th), DEN (9th), or SF (12th). That would be prime position to get Wilson/Fields at 2 and then move back up to get a stud he can throw to like Pitts, Chase, Smith, or Waddle. If all of those guys are gone, take one of the stud CBs (Farley/Surtain).

I don’t get the hype on Lance. His pro day was terrible and he played division 2 ball. If he sits for 2 years maybe he has a chance but drafting him in the top 5 is crazy.

BTW of course JD is going to say he’s standing pat.. his FO has no leaks thus far so anything being reported now is just an assumption

Your assessment of what his Pro Day meant is obviously not shared by actual NFL teams.

Drafting the best arm talent at QB in the draft who also has great athleticism might be "crazy" to you but it's going to happen.

You are also completely wrong about needing to sit for 2 years. Teams aren't running 1980's West Coast offense anymore. QB's with the elite tools can survive early while they adjust to the game. It is the QB's without the elite physical tools that take longer see (Tua/Herbert).

Herbert might not be the best guy to drive that point home, considering he just won OROY and all.

Darnold would most likely go in the 3 team deal. But not much of an impediment since we still have lots of picks to offer. We could even throw in a #1 next season to sweeten the deal. We could easily do it then take the combination that you prefer. I think Chase, Smith will be gone leaving us with the choice of Pitts, Waddle, CBs, or Parsons. In my scenario we're trading for Mack, so we won't select Parsons. It could be either Pitts, Waddle, or the CBs. I would say Pitts or Waddle since they are unique talents you can't find later on.

I get the thought but I can't see JD trading for a guy like Mack. He's still one of the best EDGEs in the league but he also just turned 30 and will probably start to be on the decline sooner rather than later. Add to that, the Bears just restructured his deal so that he's going to get 30M in 2022 and I think that makes it even less likely JD goes after Mack.

The point was Herbert had tools. Tua is more of a composite QB. Good at lots of things, no elite physical traits and he looked way worse Year 1.

So what does this mean for who is Pro Ready?

Lance is going to take off quickly-elite tools.

Someone like Mac Jones who would have been considered more pro ready under the old NFL now is the one who people wait on. Mental traits take longer to shine in a young QB.

Agree, I watched his pro day and was also underwhelmed with his ball location. The comparison people try to make is Josh Allen, but Allen’s arm is night and day. Allen had a lot of wow throws, I didn’t see any from Lance.

Not to say he can’t be a good Qb, but he’s far from a finished project + suspect he slides out of top 10, maybe goes after Mac Jones.
