He is still a phenomenal young QB but you are right, not only the optics but the scrutiny from media, on a daily basis, it’s a circus that no team wants to deal with right now.
In a perfect world this would be true but a lot of people hear the allegation and make up their minds. Not saying it's right but it happens.
I agree with you and no one here is saying he’s guilty, but the circus atmosphere it will create if JD trades for him, I don’t think teams really want to deal with that type of publicity right now. Didn’t Woody just go through a scandal where he was accused of being disrespectful to some woman while he was playing ambassador? If it were me and it was my team, I would want no part of it while it was being resolved.
Yep I agree with both Red Menace and REVISion on this one. Rightly or wrongly, certain charges carry a stain before guilt is ever proven or disproven.
I don't see how the situation resolves smoothly at this point. It's all 'he says/she says' but with multiple accusers the 'she says' side tends to pile up into an unmovable mass. Then you have the fact that they're all apparently hookers (masseuses who travel) which damages their credibility. The next shoe to drop is maybe some older acquaintance of Watson who says he was inappropriate when he was 16 and things get more confusing.
I'm betting that the Texans are behind this as a few others have already said, and it doesn't matter to them whether the allegations eventually get proved false because the damage to Watson will already have been done. At this point, I'm pretty sure Watson won't be wearing Jets Green.
The Texans would only be reducing what they can get for Watson, it's literally the dumbest thing they could do. Which is why it's probably them.
No, the dumbest thing they could have done is had a white suburban female policewoman accuse him. But if these turn out to be Asian masseuses he may be screwed...they’ve shot right up on the victim scale today.
Not any more. It sure sounds like he did nothing wrong, just went to a massage parlor to get a hand relief, much like Bob Kraft did before, then got used by gold diggers for his celebrity/money, but now days even a mere accusation ruins your reputation. If anything I think he might withdraw his trade demand at this point as there are bigger things to worry about.
Except for the fact that the accusations are not that he went to a massage parlor but had them come to his home. Not that I believe or deny the accusations, but I’m not sure how you can claim exposing yourself to someone who thinks they are coming to your home to give you a legitimate massage and touching them equates to doing nothing wrong. that being said, the idea that the masseuse could believe she was being flown to Houston from Atlanta just for a massage is as believable as a woman going to the room of the heavyweight champ at 2:00 am to just hang out. Or maybe I’m just victim blaming.
Neither of us knows what happened. I told you what it sounds like to me, based on what I read, whether masseurs was in the parlor or called in from the parlor to his house. The point here is that whether it's true or not, his reputation will get a big hit by mere accusation. Which increases his chances of staying in Houston.
At the point where I don’t even care if he’s a Jet or not...don’t want him on the Fins or Pats more than I even want him on the Jets. Stay with the Texans or trade him to the Niners. I’ll sign up for that right now. I’ll take my chances with the rookie.
So you believe exposing yourself to a woman is perfectly acceptable behavior? Those are the accusations. Whether it is true or not is irrelevant, we are talking about your interpretation of that behavior as doing nothing wrong.
If JD has even any remote interest in Watson, I'm certain that he'll have the Jets' Security Dept. check this out.
It could all be proven to be false before the draft. It wouldn't surprise me if Easterby and McNair weren't behind this. I hope that it's not true for Watson's sake and for the sake of the women that he supposedly propositioned.
That's not what I said. Don't be a fool who puts words in people's mouths. If accusation is true, it's not acceptable, but what I said was that the story to me didn't sound very convincing, so you can relax. Neither of us knows what happened, but I am not ready to jail Watson just yet. His reputation though took a heat by mere accusation, which is all I was saying. Don't change the subject and put words in peoples mouths just to create an argument to show how righteous you are.
