Still early. They will continue to make additions. Also, the Jets do have weapons. Mims, Davis and Crowder are a strong starting 3 WR's. Chris Herndon is a good TE, just had a bad 2020 season. Perine and Johnson showed potential at RB. I think the front office will likely add a RB and a TE. The main issue is guard right now. Right and Left!

Or he has a different vision for what he has in mind for receiver than what we might think he should have.

    True. Problems solved!

Come on. We have the hands down worst offensive roster in the league. We need an overhaul. Spare me the “through the draft” shit because we have mountains of money to spend and just as many draft picks. This is exactly when you get aggressive, not when you overthink.

Odds are pretty good it is a setup by the Texans trying to get leverage on Watson.

JDs lack of action is getting on my nerves. He better see a plan come to action or it’s first strike.

I’m not saying sign all the big names. But you’ve got holes everywhere and lead the league in cap. Do something...

Seahawks now have a 2, 4, and two 7's if I'm not mistaken.

It's funny, if this charge does get traced back to the Texans, Watson won't be getting traded because he'll never have to work again. He can just sue the shit out of McNair.

    500 million sound about right?

The Jets can roll cap over into 2022 when the roster should be better built and ready to plug a few key holes.

Right now there aren't many key holes that would make a difference between winning and losing in 2021. 2022 will be different because we'll have the 2021 draft plus the second year of the 2020 draft to build on.

Receivers, at least those who have options, are probably going to be a hard get for the Jets right now. Nobody knows who the QB is going to be, and some of the options aren't really that great. The guys who have options to go elsewhere will probably do so, as they're looking at potentially having Darnold again, who may or may not be around for more than a year (if he is at all), or a rookie from a class that isn't all that great outside of Lawrence.

If we sign Juju it will make me think we are keeping Darnold since he likes him. We need to upgrade the line more and frankly a fifth for Gabe Jackson would have done it. Confused by some of the decisions as usual.

    Kenny Golladay
    Will Fuller
    Richard Sherman
    Mitchell Schwartz
    Desmond King
    Juju Smith
    Russell Okung
    Alejandro Villanueva
    TY Hilton
    Malcom Butler
    Etc
    Etc

There is still A LOT of talent out there.

Patience. Not only can we roll some of it over but going on a spending spree or trading picks for offensive linemen does not help us in the long run

No, I don't think Darnold would "lead" us to a high draft pick. I haven't been on the "Trash Sam Bandwagon".

The only way that not taking a QB this year makes sense is if JD doesn't think anyone other than Lawrence has a good chance of being a FQB, and I find that hard to believe. If he passes on a QB at #2 and then next year has to trade up, or settle for, a QB, that would be Maccagnan-level dumb and I'd have to question his ability as a GM at that point.

The Jets are not signing post-prime players at this point. That means that if you are going to be 30 before the season starts the Jets are not interested.

It's an extremely logical point of view for a rebuilding team. What you want to do is fill holes with 4 year solutions so you don't have to fill the same hole again in a year or two.

If you stick to the draft and 26 and younger free agents you have a chance to have the roster be coherent with just a few holes to fill in a couple of years.

If you sign the 29-30 year olds you're just bailing against the tide because a bunch of those guys will not be NFL caliber players any more by the time you're wanting to fill a couple of holes and make a run.

I expect a WR to be taken by the end of day 2 to give us a group of Davis, Crowder, Mims, and the rookie. That gives the rookie time to develop and become productive by the time one of the first two is no longer on the team(likely Crowder).
