IMO that isn't realistic. The Jets can only accommodate so many new players and turnover the roster so much in one year. Without a quality QB, it won't matter anyway.
I hope he is shifting gears because all the moves so far have been underwhelming big time. Complete roll of the dice boom or bust guys. Fucking Ray Charles can see that ffs!
Anyone know when the 5th year option deadline is? Because that’s also the deadline for the Sam trade.
Jets can keep Sam D and trade #2 pick... Draft a QB, have a QB competition... Hope both QBs do well and then trade Sam to a QB needy team?? There are many scenarios... I trust JD and crew will get this right.
it is irrelevant. Wilson has a no trade clause and only will accept a trade to 4 teams. The Bears are one of them, the Jets are NOT.
Regardless if it’s Darnold, or Wilson/Fields, I would think JD’s approach would remain the same, load up with offensive weapons and protection. That said while it s not my preference, if JD lands solid OLs, another high end WR, a TE and a RB, then I would be content with another shot with Darnold. And whoever is that backup, whether it’s a drafted QB or a veteran, I sure hope that that the replacement fills in admirably. I guess I have very short leash with Darnold.
“He stinks, bro” says one offensive coach. The audacity! Sam is easily worth a 1st .. "Don't waste your time" .. if you can't afford it
I wouldn’t call JDs moves conservative at all.. I call them reckless!! Lawson - injury prone, little production and a small sample size of positive production. 2 acl tears. C. Davis - This is a boom or bust addition. Completely rolling the dice that he can live up to the billing of a top 10 pick. J. Davis - labeled a first round bust by many. I’ve supported JD but i don’t like these signings
Saleh hired Ulbrich because he is familiar with Saleh's system due to the fact he coached under Quinn which is the Seattle defense, which is where Saleh gets it from his days in Seattle.
I have been wondering whether JD might try to swing a few trades with the extra 2022 picks he got for McLendon and Avery. JD gets his man before he gets released, team gets some reward for a guy they were going to have to cut. Absolutely no idea if there is someone out there worth doing this for though.
Why is this? Sam is never getting that option from any team in this league, it is surely the most irrelevant 5th year option in the NFL. If we are keeping Sam a new deal will be offered rather than the 5th year option, if he declines the new offer he will go to FA next season and find that nobody is still willing to give him 20m+ but that is if he is still with us this season.
Bellichicken collecting TE's because Newton can't throw more than 10 yards down the field? How the hell do they have so much money to spend?
It's funny reading some posters on here, but I am starting to like this feeling during free agency. A GM that does not go out and sign the biggest names for tons of money and focuses more on value, youth, and effectiveness in the system. Focus heavy on the draft and methodically add specific pieces in free agency. Not used to this as a Jets fan and it is refreshing, to say the least. If you do not like the approach, at least you can admit it is a much different approach than years past. We all know how our past panned out.
