But you also have to spend a certain portion of your cap, and JD isn't doing it. This is the year to spend in FA, not wait until 2022 or 2023 when no one decent is in FA and he wind up having to give a huge contract to some 40-year old player who just wants one last big payday.
I'm ok with Corey Davis. Could be a decent group of WRs, but more depth (more than Vyncent Smith..) is a must. Isn't K'Wuan Williams a slot corner? That would presumably mean the end of Brian Poole, which I do not like.
If Perine is part of the foundation of this team we're screwed, and if we have are only going to build via the draft, we'll never get there. By the time 5 years have passed and JD is ready to fill the last holes, some of the players he drafted his 1st and 2nd year will want to be traded or will have retired due to injuries. I understand not overpaying, but when you need to spend money and have a ton of holes, you bite the bullet and do it.
Tough question. BB is going for the short term fix and he will probably achieve that, like Parcells did for us. My hope and believe is we improve the number of wins in 2021 by a higher number than he will improve his record. Of course we have a much lower threshold to improve from, but our focus should be long term return to being a winner. Much like his team, it will be paced by the guy behind center.
So great, in a great draft for WR talent and playmakers, we'll be using our top picks on OL and D. I hate the Jets! This franchise is fucking doomed!
Agreed. My preferences were Samuel and Golladay with Samuel being my top option, but Davis at this price is a great deal.
Actually this has been the MO under this ownership... Hi Ceiling/low pay You know what that gets ya? Fielding a bunch of B and C grade players who wouldn't start on other teams. Yeap, that MO seems to be continuing here, JD...the Yes man's Yes man.
What about Kevin Zeitler? JD didn't even have to wait since he was released. He signed for $7 million a year. He could have signed Zeitler for maybe $8 or $9 million per season and helped solidify the OL. Now, if he doesn't get Gabe Jackson, there aren't any top OGs left.
I never had any interest in Linsley. He's already 30 and we have a good C. We didn't need Linsley. We need OGs, and McGovern is a better C than OG.
I guess it's Lawson, Hendrickson or bust. And for all we know, Lawson and Hendrickson could be busts.
No doubt about that. Pats needed a pure deep defense stretcher. Davis is a big physical #1A type. Davis got a lot of guaranteed money [which he should] while Agholor needs to make good to see any money the 2nd year of his deal. Jets have two big physical receivers on both sides now. This is going to present match-up issues for most teams. Henry Anderson looks like a food fit for the Pats. They like those big run stoppers in the middle. Probably an early down guy.
