He is a man who just watched Tom Brady win the Super Bowl with another team and he is about to turn 69. Time to go all out for one last run and then let the Patriots franchise burn once he retires. Decent strategy.

Brady's SB win in Tampa, along with the bills looking great has had some serious side effects up there.

They going all in with bang average players, and now having to pay players as they no longer have Tom.

Was that before or after they signed Aaron Jones to a 4 year deal with a 13 million signing bonus?

So you mean to tell me I can get my Amazon boxes same day or in two days but I can't get a fucking instant conference championship team?

    I must have instant gratification.

He probably only has 2-3 years before he's going to retire anyways. Might as well build the quickest competitor he can before he's out.

I'm ok if we sign zero high-priced free agents this offseason. For myself, it's always been about the draft and building a solid foundation first. If there is a higher-priced F/A on defense that is young and perfectly fits into Saleh's scheme, then sign him, otherwise, it's through the draft.

Asking to significantly improve 1 position at IOL is hardly pounding the table for an instant championship team.

You can check out cheeseheadtv theres an interview with both Lindsey and Gunquist. It was purely financial driven.
After, but details of that contract are still unknown.

At this point I'm kind of wondering if we're going to draft a QB at all this year. Surely an OL guy like Joe wouldn't think about putting a rookie QB behind a bunch of young guys with shaky feet.

The NFL and NFLPA borrowed a significant chunk of the 2022 and 2023 caps to bring up the floor on the 2021 cap by about $20M.

I don't think anybody thinks the cap is going up substantially even if the new TV deal is better than it appears likely to be.

Linsley is 29 years old. He's 30 before camp opens.

Why would you sign that kind of player to a huge deal on a 2-14 team?

More importantly why would that player sign with a 2-14 team when he has options to sign with actually good teams for his last deal?

Can you imagine what it's going to look like when the league year actually begins?

Football Santa isn't even in his sleigh yet and we already have coal in our stockings.

JD doesn't get paid the big bucks to sign high dollar free agents. If that were the case, Mac and others would still have a job.

There will be signings to come but most importantly, trades and a draft.

Because OL routinely play well into their low-mid 30's and it's important to give a rookie QB a solid line. I don't think we should be so stingy given the amount of cap space we have.

Instant? Cmon JV. It's been 10 years since the playoffs.

I think most fans were ok with the punt last year. No one expected anything. This is year 2 of JDs master rebuild.

Man, we're not asking him to break the bank or to pull a Maccagnan. We have the 2nd most cap space in the league, holes everywhere and we haven't addressed any of the most pressing ones. That's an L.

Again, I understand that building through the draft is the most important thing and that great teams don't break the bank in FA. That's not what we're asking JD to do, though. Just spend some of our many available dollars.

I can see us halfway through next season:

"Relax guys, a new OL needs time to gel. We can't expect our 3rd and 4th round picks at guard to be great right away." meanwhile our rookie QB is getting roasted and having his confidence shot.

Why would he want to play for us if somebody else is giving him the kind of offer he accepted?
