Josh Allen had a similar pro day. I honestly bet if he was in a controlled environment today he would still miss passes. The scouts aren't looking at stats like that at a pro day. They are in the business of evaluating and projecting, not keeping "score" in a scoreless workout. Thats media stuff. Lance could've looked awesome for all we know
Justin Herbert at Oregon: 41.8% in the same metric. Worse then all those guys. Then he came to LA and he's already one of the best deep ball passers in the game. The stat is flawed
His misses where a bit concerning because most of them were to the right I believe. Maybe that could be fixed with some coaching on footwork. To me these workouts are a bit useless. How about a 7v7 where the QB has to make some real throws?
What QB did well in the Senior bowl? It seems to me the Qbs that have done well in that game have turned into decent pros.
I agree that it could be, and probably is flawed. I don't vouch for the accuracy of stats I quote here, just post them for whatever informational value that they might have. They can show part of the picture. Stats can't be totally ignored, neither can they be solely relied upon.
It is a bit of a bull shit stats because it's based on % total yardage. If anything it proves the narrative that Justin Fields struggle with short throws. I would not draft a QB based only on his deep ball throws just like I would not draft one that only complete screen and easy throws. We need a QB that can complete all the throws.
I understand but there have been other stats bandied about, accuracy, then accuracy over twenty yard, long ball accuracy etc I just noticed Lawrence is often a distant 4th, which is bizarre lol
In theory you can tell what they are trying to accomplish. They are trying to generate a figure that takes away all the passes where the reciever takes a dump off pass and runs 30 yards with it. Those do inflate passing yardage and can make a QB look better than he is. but yes by using percentage like that they are creating a flawed output in their own right. A QB should not be punished for using all of the field in passing game
This is like saying a qb should never pass to his running back. He should always try to pass it down field even if his TE is wide open on a screen.
It's important to keep in mind that stats are only part of the picture used to evaluate QBs (or any player). And they're often over-emphasized by the media, pundits, and armchair GMs because they're easy to digest and make generalities about. But they can be misleading. NC already "stole" my Mark Twain quote about statistics so I won't repeat it, but they can be twisted to support opinions that are diametrically opposed. This is why it's more important to watch film of the QBs so you can see more of what's going on in context. That said, most of us don't have enough experience and knowledge to really see all the things that are going on in the film - for example: you usually can't see a QB's eyes to know if he's looking off defenders, and even head movements can be so subtle they're missed. Also, it's hard to judge the level of competition - a QB can look really good, but the team they're playing isn't very good, and even if you try to account for that you can be fooled by your own eyes. Still, this is better than just relying on stats. If you can get good breakdowns by good analysts - I like TJ O'Sullivan, Tim Jenkins, and Chris Simms - they can help you see the details better, but even they have their own biases and blindspots. As to Lawrence, I have no doubt that he'll be successful, but I'm not sure he'll become the best of this class.
The best move the Jets can do is: Darnold + 23 For Jimmy G + 12 This trade makes too much sense. Draft Wilson and he develops behind Jimmy who knows the offence and develop this kid the right way. If we throw him in the fire day 1 we can ruin him. We tried it and it doesn’t work. We need a guy for a year that can play. Wilson needs time in practice behind with professional players to get up to speed from coming from a small school. Just like Mahomes, Favre and Rodgers.
No thanks. Garoppolo sucks and has been hurt the majority of his career. I'll trade Darnold to them for a similar package but I don't want Garoppolo.
I could really see Adams' head exploding if the Seahawks trade Wilson, then trade for Darnold!!! ROFLMAO!!!
