Regardless of whether you think it's justified or not, Watson has now made himself both a distraction and malcontent. I'm sure that is weighted when trade packages are being formulated. He wants say in Houston (whether he said he was going to be given it or not is irrelevant), and he didn't get the choices he would've made for a company that employs him so he wants to be traded. Everyone hated Jamal Adams for what he did and it's no different.
do you know what distraction means? its literally the way Jamal handled the situation hear and ridic stuff he did on social media to draw attention to himself. I see no distraction from Watson he is handling it like business he asked to be traded doesnt want to be with the team anymore i wouldnt call that a distraction that happens all the time its more or less how you go about it
And every single time it's a distraction. Yet for some reason, Watson and his team have managed to ensure that they have relayed the message to the public for them to be sympathetic. Job well done. I believe if they had a deal they wanted (four picks including three first rounders), they would've pulled the trigger. I don't believe they've received anything near that package so they're doubling down on not moving him to attempt to drive the price up.
It’s getting pretty quiet. The Texans will deploy Agent McClain in the next few days to reiterate how only 8 first-round picks could possibly get this deal done.
They will have lost a top 3 asset in the league if they decide to let him rot and make a point. Who needs 3 or 4 first round picks anyway? Sure they can afford to throw it all away but they’re not going to do that. The media and fans will give them hell...it won’t last
For the record, I'm not in favor of Watson and his piss-poor attitude. For a number or reasons: 1) Watson expressed an interest in the direction the Texans would be going. Fine. 2) Cal McNair took Watson to dinner on TWO occasions where they discussed the direction of the team. McNair said he felt he had talked to DeShawn and felt he knew what DeShawn wanted. 3) I'm not sure what DeShawn expected. Having dinner (twice) with the owner and expressing his feelings on the future is HUGE. What other player gets invited to a private sit down with THE OWNER??? Did DeShawn expect he'd be sitting in on interviews with GM candidates? HC? Draft? FA? Marketing? Jersey Sales??? WTF? Did DeShawn feel McNair would be locked in to what Sir DeShawn demanded? ouch. 4) Frankly, if he truly IS determined to have a seat at the round table, then he BLEW IT. The time for THAT demand was months earlier when he was negotiating his new multi-million dollar contract. Or maybe maxing out his new contract was more important than making waves about 'direction of the team'. Maybe his agent told him to shut up and dribble and get his contract done FIRST before going on THAT crusade. Personally I think FQB ARE important. I think a player as important as a FQB SHOULD have a say, whether or not it's followed. For example, when the Packers were drafting last year, they may have included Arron in the discussions. Arron CLEARLY wanted the team to draft a top, new WR. A WEAPON. Instead, the Packers didn't draft a single WR in a draft rich with great WR talent...instead they decided on drafting a QB in the 1st round. Ouch. So ya, if the GMs gonna discuss the upcoming FA/Draft with his HC and coordinators, maybe he can include his FQB in the room when they're discussing Offensive talent? At least get his FQB's opinion on players the team is considering? Not binding, just another voice of reason? But demanding a say in the hiring of a new GM, HC, like that is INSANE. I really don't want that on the Jets. /rant

Thing is nobody knows what was said at those dinners. Cal could of been condescending to him or didn’t say what he wanted to hear. I don’t want to give up the farm for him but my unwillingness to do so has nothing to do with his personality and everything to do with compensation. Watson and Saleh would be a great start to this rebuild if Houston is willing to be reasonable about the price. Zach Wilson has pumped up his draft stock and I just have a gut feeling that’s their guy. I’d be willing to do that trade and even add a 2nd + 3rd
you are 100% wrong. That's not opinion, it's fact. Contracts are legal obligations -- he is legally obligated to play for the Texans. But courts don't force you to do something against your will, thus the punishment for not fulfilling your legal obligation is that you can't perform the services for anyone else until you do so -- he won't get paid and he can't play for anyone else (you curiously left that second part out). The argument that they "don't come and get you" does not negate the legal obligation.
They lose a top 3 asset in the league if they trade him, so if that's the basis of your argument your own argument doesn't demand that they should trade him. If you're argument is that they can offset that loss by the acquisition of the picks or other players, you have to argue why those picks/players would be more valuable than Watson when he does back, unless you truly believe Watson will walk away from the NFL forever to not play for them. The argument that fans and media will kill the team for not trading Watson is meritless until it happens. That is an idea based on the concept that Texans fans would rather trade Watson than keep Watson. I have a hard time believing there is a significant amount of Texans fans that actually want the team to trade Watson.
