Well Saleh certainly has input, and I'm sure they'll do everything they can to wind up on the same page, but in the end, It's Douglas who will make that pick because it's his name and reputation that will be attached to it. I'm also sure that Douglas made sure when he hired Saleh that they'd be able to agree on this.

He and Fields have similar throwing motions and I have to imagine it's because they both were baseball players. It looks an awful lot like Russell Wilson's motion at times - a center fielder winding up.

    Lance is going top 5.

His arm talent and athleticism are top end.

If someone wants him they need to get ahead of Atlanta at 4.

Today was my first chance to watch Lance. Gotta Say I loved him. He LOOKS like a QB...tall, strong physique. Muscles in all the right places. And MAN can he spin the pigskin. His throwing looked strong and amazing. Actually he looked better than Tevor looked last week, who looked great himself.

4 or 5 misses out to the right and a couple of overthrows but that aside he was impressive.

I'd be happy to take him and a vet and sit him for however long is necessary.

We don't know that. Now that the Jets have supposedly restructured the reporting tree similar to most organizations, i.e. coach reports to GM, It's now possible for him to fire the coach without getting fired himself. However, you're correct about him being the most visible person during the draft, however, if you believe all the draft day hype, they will say, whomever the pick is, that it wasn't one person's call, but a collective organizational decision.
Despite that, the one person in the organization who is most responsible for winning on the field is the coach. I have to believe that he's the one who's ultimately got to sign off on who his QB will be. I know if I was a coach, I wouldn't want to walk into a situation and be handed a QB and be told I have to win with this guy.

Yes, the HC "owns" the W/L record, but the GM "owns" the draft picks and signings. It wasn't Bowles who we blame for Maccagnan stupidly passing in Mahomes and Watson.

That is why we have a front office/GM and a scouting department. Saleh is not a scout. The front office gets opinions from everyone, but some are worth more than others. As for QB, it will not be Saleh's call. He will have input in who he likes, but he will not have the final call on that position.

Defense is another story. Saleh's opinion will have more weight since you need to get players that fit his style. However, the GM and scouting staff are the ones responsible for finding the players that fit his system. JD will still ask him what he thinks about different players, but then ultimately it is up to the GM to take all of that information to make the best decision.

Free agency is a different story. Saleh will have more valuable input there since he knows the players.

I know you already know this. just stating it for those that think Saleh will have a lot of input into who the QB is. That's not happening. Once he gets the players, then he will have more control over the team on the field as far as whether or not someone should stay or go. But ultimately in the end it is JDs call since he has to take both short & long term into decision making, whereas the head coach is mainly concerned with just the upcoming season.

The only quibble I have it the bold - I think Saleh will have a lot of input, but that's all it is, input. As we both said, the actual decision will be Douglas's, and if also the decision as to how much weight to give to Saleh and his opinions. I do think he will listen to Saleh - and LaFleur - but Douglas has been looking at QBs a long time before those guys came into the picture.

Right, everyone will have input, it is just the weight you put on that input. Like I can see Lafleur having a higher weight in judging a QB than Saleh since Saleh has been strictly a defensive guy his entire career while Lafleur is offense & knows much more about QBs. But now Saleh will be a head coach and will be responsible for the entire team. It will be the first time he will work with the QBs but more in a leadership role.

Let's hurry up and trade for Watson so he can have input, too.

For anyone who happens to give a f*** I’ve decided I’m hitching my wagon to the Justin Fields horse. That’s my official preference for 2nd overall.

Well, I am offering my wants and needs as this...

    Watson
    Lance
    Wilson
    Fields
sign Beathard or similar and sit the rookie for a season if we don't get Watson, as of right now the only guaranteed FQB is Watson.

I don’t think so. I thought his pro day was terrible... not sure why everyone is raving about him. The ball was on the turf more than in his receivers hands and that’s in shorts.

I'm not religious so Wilson is a bit of a worry tbh

    • No sex before marriage and complete fidelity after marriage. Mormons believe the family is essential to God’s plan, so we don’t do anything that could jeopardize that. The 10 commandments in the Bible says, “Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
    • No alcohol or drugs. Why? We don’t want the affects of alcohol or drugs to influence us to make poor decisions.
    • No dishonesty. Mormons believe it is important to keep Christ’s commandment in the Bible to be honest with other people. We aren’t perfect at it, but we strive to do our best. The 10 commandments say not to “…bear false witness.”
    • Donate 10% or more of your income to charity and the building up of the kingdom of God. We believe that God is the Creator of the world. We obey the law of the tithe to show our trust in God. Because of the church’s almost complete lay ministry, the tithes are only spent for good instead of lining the pockets of a professional pastor.
    • Do not view pornography. We believe it’s incredibly belittling to women to treat them as objects, and pornography tempts the viewer to commit sin. The 10 commandments say “thou shalt not covet.”
    • Do not engage in same-sex relationships. We are taught that marriage is ordained between a man and a woman. We have great love and respect for ALL people–including gays and lesbians. There are many gay members of the church who are very faithful people and are in full fellowship. They are welcome to come to church and participate in the church, and we love them just as we would anyone else. However, we do believe the Bible’s teachings that romantic relationships are ordained by God to be between man and woman.
    • Dedicate Sundays to the Lord. The 10 commandments from the Bible includes the commandment “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.” We attend church on Sundays where we study the words of Christ and worship God.
    • No foul language. We keep our language clean and respectful. As it says in the 10 commandments, “Thou shalt not take the Lord’s name in vain.”
    • No cigarettes, coffee, tea, coffee or tobacco. We believe life is a gift from God and we do our best to keep our bodies healthy and clean. I wrote more on why we don’t drink coffee here.
    • Teenagers shouldn’t date until 16 years-old. We believe that teens should be careful to develop wholesome relationships in high school and should wait to develop serious boyfriend/girlfriend type relationships until they are of age to start courting and marrying. This helps them to prevent temptation to sexual sin.
    • No abortion. Members of the church strongly oppose abortion and do not participate in abortion in any way. The 10 commandments say, “Thou shalt not kill.” Church leaders have opened the possibility for abortion in extreme instances of danger to the mother’s life, incest, and rape.
    • Gambling. Mormons don’t bet money on games of chance, or play the lottery.

    Sounds like a fun sponge.
