Yet two really respected posters would sooner cut their nads off than have Wilson @#2 It is a funny place we inhabit atm.
I actually think that the top 6 and even top 7 QB of this year draft could turn into decent pro QB. My favourite candidate to 'over achieve' the expectation is Mac Jones. His decision making process is the best i've seen from a top qb prospect in a longtime.
I’m to the point now, that things are looking so good for Wilson at #2, that I’m worried the Jaguars are gonna take him. And I may actually be a little disappointed at getting Lawrence instead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is just foolish. There's a reason Lawrence has been talked about for years and Wilson is the "hot" prospect. People are bored of hearing about Lawrence, and Wilson gives people new talking points. There isn't a GM (that's actually employed by an NFL team) that would take wilson over lawrence.
Dont take it the wrong way teammates. But the cynical me thinks that many of the fans here that don’t want to draft any of the QBs with the first pick will absolutely flood this board with criticism and vitriol on JD if he passes up on one of the candidates this year and he turns out to be a star with another team. It will be Mahomes fiasco revisited at nausea all over again.
Hindsight is 20/20 and this is most definitely going to be the take if that happens. This is exactly why I don't criticize Mac for taking Adams over Mahomes and Watson because I didn't want Watson and didn't even know who Mahomes was until the draft; I also didn't follow the draft that much in 2017 but still.
The problem is, it will be the same shitshow if JD does pick a QB but it turns out to be the wrong one.
If he builds a winner regardless there won’t be any issues, and if he builds a loser he’s gone anyway. I don’t think the QB will be the one thing even though it’s obviously important
It will be the same no matter what he does if it is perceived to be a mistake, at the time, after an (in)appropriately short knee jerk reaction time or in hindsight. It will be the same if he makes the right choice but fails to adequately address other positions. The only way he escapes criticism is by winning.
Wilson is winning the hype award by a large margin so far this off season. When people start believing he is comparable to Lawrence you know the hype virus has spread through TGG. Lawrence > Wilson. Fields > Wilson. The #2 pick > Wilson.
I don't think this is fair. Wilson seems to be the consensus #2 QB prospect among the most respected talent evaluators and QB coaches. It's not like he's getting hype for no reason. Plus being the #2 best prospect in a year with such a good #1 prospect is even more meaningful. He's likely relatively better than the normal #2 QB in most drafts.
Wilson > Lawrence Lawrence > Fields The #2 pick = FQB There! Your turn! I like this game. It dispenses with all the research, thought, and typing.
Am I wrong in assuming that if there was no Trevor L on this years draft, most everyone here would be salivating for Wilson or Fields or you name it and complain bitterly we did no have an opportunity with the first pick? Turns out we have our choice of all of them, but apparently none are now meritorious of the second pick? Tough crowd I say.
Agreed. It honestly makes no sense to me. I know some of us differ on which QB to take but not taking a QB at all is just unfathomable imo. > QB is the most important position, by far? Yes. > We have statistically had the worst QB in the league the last 3 years, and he's about to get more expensive? Yes. > We have the 2nd best pick of any team in the league in a draft that by most accounts is a strong QB class? Yes. > Let's not take a QB. > ????????????????
