Again, I claimed the Texans and the entire NFL will lose money if Watson does not play. The Texans will not be moving forward to make their team better if Watson is idle and they're going to operate by wishing and hoping he changes his mind. The fans first and foremost want to see their team win which won't happen with Watson on the couch. The longer Watson is under contract to the Texans and not playing the more value will be lost, both in Watson and in lost revenues. Doing nothing with Watson is not a negligible loss and is totally unacceptable. Why is that hard to interpret?
Ok, so you think the Texans will trade him, and you don’t see any reason why the best offer they receive this offseason will be beaten by some future offer. So why would it benefit the Texans to wait a year to trade him?
I figured you to be a bit younger than a guy who lived through the Great Depression but you learn something new every day as they say.
I wonder how a potential Russell Wilson trade would change things. That would make the Seahawks 2022 first rounder WAY more valuable. If we could get away with the 2nd overall pick, the 34th overall pick, the Seahawks 2022 first and a day 2 pick in 2022, I'll hand deliver the signed paperwork to Houston.
Last time I looked a 5 yr guaranteed contract married a player and team for at least 2 more years. Just looked again. Yup.
It's been reported that the NFL and the NFLPA agreed to borrow from future caps to significantly raise the floor on the salary cap this season. The original figure likely would have been in low 160's.
I haven't posted much in this thread recently because I feel like it's beating a dead horse at this point and I don't think anyone actually knows what the hell is going to happen. However, Over last 24 - 48 hours I have become confident that Watson will be the starting QB for the NYJ when the 2021 season opens up and it will be for less than we all think (3 1's + X). There is only one team that can make this work and if Watson wants out as bad as he is saying there is no way he would deny a trade to us. It just seems unimaginable to think that they will risk Watson sitting out for 10 weeks. Then when comes back after 10 weeks his contract counts for the year, he magically pulls a "back" injury. They might be dumb, but they aren't stupid. They know damn well the #2 pick allows them to restart the entire franchise and gives them something to sell their fanbase. A week or so ago I was probably around 80-20 that we do not get Watson, but right now I really think it's 50-50
If he's miserable in Houston, he's gonna be out of his mind in Jersey. You'd think he would want to get to a winning team or at least a team that doesn't need a long ramp up to respectability.
