I meant our 1st pick which was acquired in the Adams trade. I expect it to be used on OL, WR, Edge, CB, or LB. We can get a Gainwell, Williams, Carter, or Hubbard on day 2.

Ya could be the case for sure. I just really like Najee Harris as a prospect and I think he fits the bell cow Shanahan style offence

Yes this mock draft is pretty solid with a good effort BUT I can’t see this regime taking a RB at 23. I would think that pick will go D either EDGE or a CB.

Now if the Jets are able to trade Darnold for another late first or even another second rounder I could see a RB taken at that point. Harris may be off the board by then however.

Drafting Devonta Smith will win us more games then any QB we could draft and be a solid first step to building a champion.

I think if Miami doesn’t sign a big time FA running back Harris will be gone at 18. They are linked to Aaron Jones so maybe Harris will be there for us.

I didn't pay attention to the other teams because I only care about the Jets, and am not a fan at all of your pick for them after Harris. Of course I love the Wilson and Harris picks, and Campbell and Turner are very good prospects, but you made the same mistake that Mac did...you didn't build around Wilson. Aside from taking Harris, you drafted 4 defensive players, three in the picks right after Harris, when you could have taken a WR, better OG, TE, or RT.

I doubt that Turner falls to the 3rd round. Also, the Jets have two 5th round draft picks.

I don't think that there's even a small chance that Douglas will take Sewell. We'll see who's right.

I don’t see other players other than Wilson or Sewell that should be considered at 2. I will be happy with either one of he doesn’t trade down. So I’m in a win win situation.

I somewhat agree that there aren't any other players that should be considered at #2. I think that only a QB should be taken there. Some "experts" still think that Fields should be the pick at #2. So I think it should be one of Wilson or Fields. I wouldn't take a RT at #2, and if we take Sewell that's what he would play. I think JD will either take a QB or trade down. Even if he trades down, he still might take Lance.

my issue with Sewell is there just isn’t enough tape ... he’s so young and from what I have seen looks talented and very stout. For me when I watch him I feel he’s more a LG than a LT. If JD feels the same is the only way he’s the pick.

Id take Davonta Smith over Sewell at 2

Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will the Jets. I think the next 2 drafts need to be considered as a collective effort. They are the groundwork for this rebuild. I took players that I felt will have value at their draft position and I liked on tape. Plus free Agency and cap space will also play a major factor in this rebuild.

I agree that it's going to take 2-3 drafts to build this team, but imo the #1 priority has to be building around Wilson/Fields/Watson. Taking 2 Edges and a CB immediately after taking Harris isn't doing that. This isn't even a great draft for DEs. There's not a single blue chip Edge prospect in this draft and there will be 2-3 next year and the Jets will have two #1s to try to get one of them. Assuming they sign a DE in FA, then they can roll with Huff and Zuniga at the other spot this season. If they want to use one pick between the 3rd and 4th round on a DE, fine, but not all 3 on D. The Jets will probably sign Richard Sherman he will be the #1 and Hall the #2. They can wait until next year to draft a CB or take a flyer on another CB in a lower round this year. Instead of taking a DE in round 3-4, they could also take a CB there.

I firmly believe that the Jets first 4 picks should be all used on offense: QB at #2, and then an OG or RT, WR or TE or RB. In fact they can probably wait until the 4th-5th round and take one of Jaret Patterson and Javian Hawkins. Along with signing Thuney and Samuels (or Davis) in FA, that would give their offense a HUGE boost and truly help ensure that their new QB succeeds. It takes longer for the offense to gel and chemistry to develop. That's another reason why all the top picks should be on offense this year. They can then use all or most of the top picks next year on D and it will balance out, but the team will be in better competitive shape because the offense will have already had a year together by 2022.

I agree that we need to start building around the QB this draft. But I still think JD is going the Ozzy Newsome rebuild route and not focusing on QB this season. That means if we get Devonta Smith and a top IOL in the first round that is a big win, no matter who is playing QB.

We can go DB / edge in rounds 2-3. We get our QB next draft, and continue to build on offense in that draft, and we will be putting them in a great position to succeed from their first start.

Not big on Sherman. He was the 49ers weak spot at DB last season - both before and after his injury. Surely Selah knows this. I'd be surprised if we sign him.

Etienne is a HR hitting type back that has the potential to score anytime he touches the ball. Harris is a big back with explosive potential. With him you get a guy who can consistently put the Jets in 2nd or 3rd and short situations. That is a far cry from the consistent 3rd and longs we've seen from the Jets offense in the last 5 years. Defenses will have no choice but to array their formations to stop the Jets running game with either of these two. That will give whoever the QB is more time to throw and more options on plays to run. These other RBs you mentioned are good prospects, yes, but they are not in the same league as Etienne and Harris and aren't going to cause DC's to lose sleep figuring out how to stop them, at least at first until they prove themselves. Just having a guy back there to carry the ball doesn't mean much unless he can strike fear in the opposition.

We're not taking Devonta Smith. You can forget about that imo. Both Ja'Marr Chase and Jaylen Waddle are better, but Douglas isn't going to take any of them at #2. He's either drafting a QB or trading that pick to the Texans for Watson.

Joe D believes in positional value ie spending high picks on more expensive positions. There’s 0 chance we draft an RB in th 1st round.

It’s hard to say Waddle and Chase are better than Smith. The kid has been unbelievable for 3 years now. He literally looks like Jerry Rice out there.

Free Agency will also play a part as I think we will add a WR like Juju or Golladay. I also think we will add at least 1 pass rusher. When SF was rolling to the SB their edge players were dominant and I believe Saleh will want to be able to run the same type of D. Therefore adding as many as we can in the draft and in free Agency. We need a true 1 corner and if Tyson Campbell is sitting there at 34 in my opinion it’s a no brainer pick. He probably will be gone...
