Absolutely. with Crosby out we need to create separation from the Pens. Anything less than 4 pts would be terrible.

I guess we could have asked for a better first — Lee’s shot (I think) not ringing the bell.

Good game by the Isles. 45 shots on goal and a 5-2 win.

The games against Buffalo could only be bad news (winning is expected, losing is a disaster), but an excellent way to start them off. I guess Varlamov tomorrow and Sorokin on Sunday?

That goal by Barzal was a thing of beauty :)

The reverse retro’s are still boring but they do look pretty good.

    Absolutely ridiculous.

Two down, one to go. High noon tomorrow on national TV (NBC). I wouldn't be surprised if the Sabres have a new coach by then.

Lackluster first period for both teams. Krueger seems incapable of getting the Sabres to play at any reasonable level. Have to think he’s gone very soon - like, VERY soon.

Walhstrom is going to be a really good player once he gains more experience.

Mayfield with a terrible penalty man, just skate to the puck man, no need for the obvious trip.

I would take that Buffalo top line in a heart beat.

3-0 Isles. Has a coach ever been fired between the second and third period of a game?

Wow, real bad goal given up by Sorokin, and all of a sudden it’s 3-2.

You can see the Isles intensity slow down with 15 minutes left in the 3rd, I told my wife they are slacking off and Buffalo is going to make this game closer than what it should be.

I guess it was destined to end 5-2. That’s the way to do it.

Absent of a trade to a contender and a strong run by him, I see Taylor Hall in the Isles future on a low price reclamation deal.

but more importantly, Jack Eichel has a front row seat to the team he needs to get to.

Five game winning streak. First place in the division at 15-6-4. Tuesday night vs Boston will be a challenge if for no other reason than the Isles are playing an NHL team again. Buffalo is garbage.

Important extra point -- that's a six point lead on the Bruins with 3 extra games played.

Another three game set coming up. Thursday Devils at Isles then Saturday and Sunday Isles at Devils. Unlike the Sabres the Devils will put up a fight. I don't know if the Isles will sweep the three games but they should at least win two. Anything less than 4 points would be disappointing.
