Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Samsonov and Orlov all OUT at least 4 games due to Covid protocols. This sucks. What can I say? These guys like to party. It's not a shock they instantly were not following the NHL protocols. All Russian too. Big loss for the Caps.
Are they definitely going to miss games? I did see that the Caps were getting fined. The Hurricanes had 5 players in Covid protocol and 3 games have been postponed.
Yeah, Samsonov tested positive and apparently Ovechkin, Kuznetsov and Orlov were hanging around him without masks on and they were placed in the protocol too. All will miss at least 4 games. Big loss in a 56 game season.
Just confused why some teams are having games postponed for Covid but not others. I guess it is no different than NFL did, but it is not right. I mean Dallas hasn’t even played a game yet because of Covid.
Hurricanes looking real sharp. Didn’t play in 10 days and beat Tampa 1 to 0 in OT Thursday. Now completely dominating Dallas 4 to 0 in 2nd! So excited for this season!!!!!
Both have looked really good so far. Hope they can keep it up. I was recently reading about that playoff format too. Sign me up for Caps-Canes in the Cup Final, although I still have bad memories from the 2019 Game 7 Double OT loss!
Now that we are into the season a bit, It feels weird that most of the games are meaningless to your favorite teams with the only division play. Also hard to get a beat on how teams stack up against the other divisions. For most of the fans here you are still playing mostly the same rivals, but be a Canes fan it is kind of cool taking a break from Metro teams and playing teams like Dallas, Hawks and Wings who we usually do not see much.
Watching the Flyers lose 7-3 just capped off a phenomenal weekend. Can’t stand that poverty franchise and their god awful fan base.
Nice 2-1 Caps win last night in Boston. Happy for Chara in his homecoming. Ovechkin sticking that guy in the nuts was unnecessary though and he was fined 5k today for it.
Matching $5K fines (the maximum allowed) was appropriate - it's obvious that Frederic was only out there for one reason.
It's simple. When he wears your team's jersey. Wilson is a good player. He just makes poor decisions last night. Completely unnecessary because he is a talented guy. No need to act like a goon. I feel he has improved with that recently, but last night was not a good look. When you act like he did in the past, you get a bad reputation. I think people are overreacting to the hit last night. I have seen much worse, but there is a hate for Wilson that amplifies any hit he makes and he needs to realize that. The Caps-Bruins 2 games were very physical. A lot of hard hits on both sides. Wilson just took it too far. I'm upset because Backstrom got his 700th assist but no one seems to care after what Wilson did and the Capitals getting smacked around 5-1. I still say he is the most underrated player in the NHL.
Sorry, TDK, the fact that Wilson has talent only makes it worse, not better. He doesn't need to be a goon to stay in the league - he does it because he wants to, and presumably enjoys it. He gave up any benefit of the doubt years ago.
No, I agree with that. And many of my Caps fan friends agree, that it makes it worse that he truly does not need to do that to succeed in the league. If Wilson was on your team, you would overall like him and be able to cheer for him though. That is what I was saying to @Dierking. He was an important part of the Caps Cup run. He is still important in the team's success. If he is not on your team, you are not going to like him. I'm a fan, but the unnecessary hits are unacceptable. No doubt about it.
