Trey Lance video by JT just released. Game from October of last year though against 7-5 FCS team. His conclusion: not as consistent to be selected in the top tier of the first round, but impressive arm and massive potential. I really don't think this changes after watching the lone game last season.
$ If NFL offered college programs $1M per player that program sends to the nfl, you'd see a LOT more AD's ordering their football staff to start getting their players ready for the big leagues. You'd see a lot more teams running pro style offenses. And college programs with a HC that can't coach this, would be replaced by former NFL HC's who can.
Another idea to enhance the NCAA/NFL connection: Every year, the National Champion (this year Crimson Tide Alabama) will play a modified 'prime time' scrimmage against an NFL team. Fans have talked about this for ever! Who wouldn't want to see the Tide crush the NY Jets during the off week before the SuperBowl!!! That would prbably draw more viewers than the big game a week later! I'd watch it!
Do you understand the massive liability issues that would cause and how bad the college team would get absolutely crushed? Half the college team would end up hurt. The NFL has already adapted to the college game, not the other way around. There's no issue with the style of game. And no this would never happen. The NFL would be pissing money away. College football is about winning and is a business just like the NFL.
I respect colin cowherd for making tge same pick, because colin likes to do things outside the box especially to create discussion. But Mel kiper portrays himself as the serious draft guy, so he can go fuck himself with this pick.
It's a shame because Kiper is still a good draft mind and prospect analyst but he's become a part of the ESPN machine that's only concerned with headlines. His mocks suck but it's not like he's awful at analyzing prospects even if he gets things wrong.
Cowherd is a clueless hack. Why would you respect him of all people?? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
There is ZERO incentive for the NFL to pay any money to college when they have a free "minor league" completely paid for by someone else. Colleges are concerned with winning, not sending players to the NFL and while it is not completely in alignment it is close enough to make it work for both parties.
There was chatter a few posts earlier about needing a farm league to develop players coming out of college (especially QBs). So what I'm saying is if players coming out of our free NCAA Farm League aren't prepared for the NFL, then maybe the NFL should try in influence it's farm league. Drafting rookie QBs who need to sit a year or even two years just to adjust to the game benefits no one.
Cause he's an entertainer. He doesnt take himself as seriously as these so called experts who say just as much stupid shit as he does.
It's actually gone in the opposite direction. Instead of influencing the college game, what the NFL has done is open up their offenses to more match what is being done in college - more spread and RPO's.
Very true. But college ball seems to be dominated by running the ball, where NFL is a pass first league. Maybe that's why RBs and run blocking lineman make an easier transition? But ya, there's been a lot of college concepts (RPO like you pointed out) making its way north to the NFL. Maybe NFL teams should send coaches down to the college ranks to learn how to coach!
Yep, but his partner on the tv show is pretty good looking and far more insightful, so there is that.,
Not a commentary on Cowherd's opinions (many of which are dumb) but he's gotta be one of the most talented sports radio guys. Very hard to fill 3 hours every day solo. He's a great talker. If you talk that much you're inevitably going to say some dumb things.
