I teach at a high school in (CT), when the Jets had many a lean year the students who I knew liked the Jets went into hybernation, and suddenly there were hundreds of new Pats fans......plus the typical young person today likes several teams & players (I guess to cover their bases)......they will wear a Vick shirt one day...then a Peyton another.....and tell me they like the Giants...but like the Colts also....and either LT & the Chargers or Vick....most can't understand the concept of sticking with one team for several decades......most have admitted that if their team was bad for a long period of time (to many that is 1-2 years), they would switch teams....and my last point (my fellow CT fans can back me on this).....for 30 years I barely would see anyone wearing a Pats shirt or admitted liking the team......in the last 5-7 years, more fair-weathered Pats fans have come out of the closet than you can count....I'm (praying) waiting for them to go into the tank again, so all of these "proud" Pats fans can go back under the rocks they crept out of.........
another 40-plus dark side, light side... who cares...we have the JETS in common...I'm 49, and although not a vulcan, have green blood.....There are times I am sure that God just isn't a Jets fan, but the more we are ignored by the media geniuses, the better i start to feel. BEAT THE RAIDERS NOW. WE OWE THOSE JERKS A PUNCH IN THE MOUTH!!!!
Yes so far the difference between this organization & the ones before it is amazing! I am hopeful Man & Tan will continue to grow building a stronger & stronger team so we can again be CHAMPIONs of the FB world
Whats not to like about our coaches and our team. They are all blue collar guys without any superstars. By the way I am 69 years old and have been a fan since the Jets were the N.Y. Titans. Allentown Ernie.
This is one of the best posts I have seen on here in a long time. Very true. I really like the direction we are heading. NOW LET'S BEAT THE RAIDERS!
This thread is long overdue. I too, peruse the website, but often feel much of the commentary is teenage drivel. You have to sift trough a ton of garbage to find some decent and informative opinions, and some of them make it worth it. 38 yrs and a Jets fan for all of the. Painfully living among Boston?s masturbatory Patriot?s Nation waiting for our day to come?
Are you 38 years old or 38 years a NYJ fan? Could not agree with you more concerning the baby drivel on this board
GREAT POST.... now lets all come back here when the jets stumble.... so we dont jump all over them... keep up the good spirit
I've seen that, but I don't believe those are 'fans' who do that. I just graduated from HS last year, and I still remember going to my first Jets game in what I believe was the 3-13 year and falling in love with the Jets, and then, as a very little kid, watching every game through the 1-15 year.... Since then I've been rewarded for my early loyalty with relative success, but I couldn't imagine any real fan ever wavering from their team because of a bad season... That'd just be disgusting....
38 years old, and remember the Jet's on the tube as far back as my memory goes. It?s been a tough go as a Jets fan, but the current regime has brought a ton of hope and I feel really highlights the inadequacies of the Edwards era. This staff has the potential to serve as true competition not only in the AFC East but NFL as a whole. It?s been a long time since I?ve seen a Jets coaching staff that inspires confidence.
You know what. I have been thinking the same thing and i go back to our playoff game against them and we did o.k in handleing him and i think we can do it again.
I am A 35 year old Jets fan and have been attending games and going on road trips since 97. I attended my first game in 1979 with my father. At that time I didnt know that the flying lawn mower that was part of the half time show crashed and killed someone. It was so cold the water on the outside of your eye balls would freeze up.
Happy to say NO just made me a realistic not to get up before the season cause you will be depressed after the season is over. I am sure now that there are posters here that are already translating our possible 10-6 finish into a sugar plum winning division title with a 1st round bye with a 14-2 record next year even though our schedule will be far more difficult next year have to play the Philly division & I think the AFCN plus the 2nd place teams in the AFCW & AFCS which I have translated in Den & Jax.
this thread has been fun - to read the positive feelings about the 2006 Jets from all of my fellow Old Timers!
