Sigh, here we go again. NO. No way. He's 32 and has massive cap charges the next two years. Either he counts $37 mil then $40 mil against the cap until 2023 or you cut him after 2021... and if you do that, what was the point? We'll have to give up a ton for a guy that has a 2-3 year window at best. This is not even close to the Watson situation so I hope no one tries to compare the two.
I tend to agree but Wilson’s still got more years than you think left. Could be around another 8 years or so. But overall I’d probably stay away as well esp if it’s for a comparable package to Watson.
I agee. He has been a great player, but I have zero interest in him, and it would be totally stupid to trade for him.
With the pounding he has taken in Seattle, I doubt it. His body is probably feeling the toll of all those hits.
He might have more years left on a good team, but not this team. It's not like this is trading for Watson where his cap hit is minuscule in comparison to other starting QBs... we'd have way less money to spend. Year 1 here would be rough for him and then you're looking at a 33 year old QB who just took a beating for a year that's due $37 mil against the cap in 2022. He couldn't get it done with Lockett and Metcalf, what's he going to do here?
He’s not mentioning us... neither is Watson... you earn players like that coming to your team... we haven’t done that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I totally disagree. After the pounding he has taken in Seattle, I don't think he can give us 6 more years, or that he will even want to play 6 more years. Even if he did, it would be at diminishing returns. I'm not certain how the contracts work and if we'd be responsible for his signing bonus each season or if that would all go to Seattle, but following are his contract details. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/seattle-seahawks/russell-wilson-9885/
I mean he won the division and made the playoffs. He’s never had below .500 record with some pretty bad teams. He’d make the Jets into an instant playoff contender. Again, not saying I’d do it, but just playing devils advocate.
If the price is right and they think he has four years left I'd go for it. He's a master of the field, use 23 as o line and the second rounder on an rb or wr.
Easily. There's his age. His cap hit. The pounding that he has taken in Seattle. Watson makes sense because he's only 25 and could help us for a long time. I'm not given up the farm for a 32-year old QB. That's just nuts.
And a Gronk away And a Suh away And an Evans away And a Godwin away And a Barrett away And a JPP away
