I used to care. I used to care so much. It would legitimately ruin my day if anything good happened to the Pats or Dolphins. We could win, but if either of them also won their games I couldn’t rest easy.

Then Adam Gase happened. The second he was hired, my passion for this team went right down the shitter. Now I don’t care what any team does because I know it’s totally irrelevant to us considering how far down the shitter WE are. I need Saleh and hopefully Watson/probably Wilson to bring it back.

I still care passionately, but if Douglas keeps Sam, doesn't draft a QB and then takes Sewell or Devonta Smith at #2 or uses both 1st round picks on D, it will kill my passion for this team, and all trust in and respect for Douglas. That will finally cure me of the curse that is the NY Jets.

I have to ask, are you bipolar or is Joe Douglas only a genius if he does what you want him to do?

I guess I should say that I lost my passion for competing. We have so much work to do and we’ve shot ourselves in the foot so many times that I can’t care about what other teams are doing because it doesn’t affect us. We have to take care of so much of our own shit before we can even consider competing for even a division title. So I care a ton about fixing it, I just don’t care what happens until we do in terms of wins and losses.

This may sound weird but I think I hate the Jets more than I hate the Dolphins or Pats at this point. I can't stand relentless incompetence. Winning meaningless games at the end of the season yet again this season is just unbelievable to me. It's like they're trying to fuck with the fans.

    https://www.profootballnetwork.com/deshaun-watson-contract-breakdown-salary-bonuses/

“Therefore, any team trading for Deshaun Watson is essentially locking themselves into a three-year contract worth $82.54 million.

Relatively, that is nothing for a QB of Watson’s talent level. However, teams will use the fact they are essentially locking themselves in for three years as a negotiating point. The final two years of the deal essentially work out as two $32 million team options. Prior to either 2024 or 2025, the team can choose to move on from Watson at no cost to themselves in terms of their salary cap.

Trading for Watson gives a team a QB under contract for five years. During that time, Watson will cost $146.54 million in cash and salary cap hit. Getting a QB widely viewed as one of the best in the NFL for under $30 million a year is an absolute bargain. Throw in that you can get out of the deal after three seasons, and the value just increases. Any team with the cap space in 2021 should be investigating how to trade for Deshaun Watson and his contract.”

If you think Watson’s contract is a problem, you don’t understand his value or you don’t understand the salary cap. The increase in his cap charge can completely be covered by the $15.6m dead cap hit coming off the Jets books and the increase in the salary cap.

I have no problem with anyone wanting Watson. I would love to have him but at the right price. I also understand the reluctance of gambling the #2 on an unproven player, especially after what we just went through with Sam. I was not a Sam fan in college. He was inaccurate. That is the big difference between Wilson and Darnold. I was shocked when people were saying Darnold would be a great QB coming out of college. It was as if nobody watched his games in college. I have watched a ton of Wilson because I watch more college football than the NFL now because the game is more exciting and they let you hit.

Watson is a 100% guaranteed talent, but I have explained in other posts about my reasons for thinking it is a bad mix coming here right now.

I'm probably older than you and have seen more games at cold windy muddy Shea Stadium than just about everyone here. I have also seen many Jets-Dolphins games at the old Orange Bowl. But I'm not a kid anymore, so I don't have hate towards any team. The only team that I really root to lose are the Yankees. lol I hated the Dolphins with a passion, but I'm over that. I actually like it when all the teams in our division are good because it makes the games much more enjoyable to watch.

I was just reading Peter King's Jets offer to the Texans and it was ridiculous:
    -#2 overall pick
    -2021 2nd round pick
    -Higher 2022 1st Round pick.
    -2023 2nd Round pick.
    -Quinnen Williams
    -Sam Darnold

If that happened, I think I would just give up on having hope for the Jets, because Douglas would be clueless.

The more I think about it, acquiring Watson might be a Same Old Jets move. Especially if it costs that much. Might be better to just let Douglas build the team his way. The right way.

Peter King is building trade packages that will hurt the Jets the most.

Four picks and Quinnen Williams? Nah. I'm a bit of a homer for him because I've liked him since college but Williams is a game wrecker and a defensive center piece. He was just one of the best IDL in the game last year and expect his sack numbers to jump into double digits next year.

The Texans can have some picks but we're not including players IMO.

Still too much. I'll value Sam as a 2nd rounder since many say that, so think about giving up three 2nd round picks, a 1st round pick in 2022 and the #2 overall pick which you could get all of that and more if you trade down? It would be ridiculous. Literally the opposite of team-building for the Jets. Great for the Texans though.

    Only 2 - 1st rounders, we wasted 3 -2nd picks on Darnold

IMO, This is the most ridiculous, idiotic trade in the world from a NY perspective. It will clearly make Caserio look like a genius for that shit team and us like idiots. You essentially trade DW to a team that will be significantly weaker than the Texans for years to come, while building the Texans from scratch with our picks. King, GTFO with that BS. We should do the reverse, get Wilson or Fields like he is suggesting for the Texans and build the team around him. Let someone else get the benefit of Watson and the lack of premium picks.

Would anyone trade Q and the 2? That’s four first rounders at minimum, value wise.
