Apparently he does need to play special teams, too. Pittsburgh is more of a Adam Vinnatieri vs Doug Brien comparison. How many Super Bowls does Brady win without that kicker? Not the first one, not the last one, maybe none. It's a team game.
While I agree that Chad's arm leaves a bit to be desired, I couldn't believe they were saying that shit. It is very unprofessional. You'd never hear Simms, Young or Marino saying that shit. Theisman is just an idiot. That's the only excuse available for him. The other knuckleheads should be covering HS football next year.
On Chad's responses to Kornhole's remarks; he definitely took the high road, as you would expect him to. He is too professional and smart to get caught up in such tripe. Even the Mods couldn't ban him.
Young actually got in hot water with Dante Culpepper for saying he misses meetings. Culpepper heard it in his box and waited for Young to confront him when he left the press box, then Theisman issued kind of a retraction for Young. Turns out Young was going on third-hand, wrong info, which you shouldn't report on national TV if you're not sure of. But I cut him some slack because he was a guest and was not part of the broadcast team, so he probably didn't prepare for the game. And I though Kornheiser said his daughter, not his dog, but I could be wrong.
NE scored 5 offensive TD's against the Steelers in the 04 playoff game. Vinatieri was certainly crucial in the Oakland game of the Pats first SB run(Brady led the team from 10 points down in the 4th quarter) but I'm failing to see how the Pats wouldn't have won the last SB without Vinatieri. They blew out the Colts and the Steelers and in the SB Vinatieri kicked a 22 yard FG.
So what you're saying is the team who won the super bowl was better than the Jets. And that has what to do with Chad? I don't think anyone is debating Chad vs Brady.
It shouldn't have been brought up then. I said to knock it off and I'd let it go but people kept on with it.
Jesus. How is it an excuse 117? He was sick, he threw up a few times, and had to have IVs afterwards, a virus. The bulk of the bad throws were on him, the weather was horrible, but Chad had some BAD passes. You could at least give a "At least he plays through the flu." Type thing...I wanted Clemens after Buffalo, but life goes on. Damn man, chill out.
This post is the epitome of why there is so much bitterness and infighting on this board and why this Pennington argument goes on and on to ridiculous extremes. Someone posts an article from the Times that discusses Pennington's purported illness in the Miami game and this is the response from a TGG member. The origninal post did not even provide a comment or an opinion- just a reprint of the article. This response is not opinion or a football discussion. It is not respectful of another's opinion. It was not in response to someone criticizing his opinion. It was designed only to go overboard to bait others. Mission accomplished.
Mangini should go online to nflshop.com and ship Kornholer one of those Jets dog sweaters with a note attached: "I understand your dog throws the ball so well that we decided to bring him into camp this year. See you in August!"
The reason Brady was used for the comparison in the first place is that he's won three Super Bowls. We're not comparing entire careers, but again, the same defense we just beat with Chad shut out Brady and the Pats a couple of weeks ago. That is fact, so either Chad beat a good team or Brady lost to a bad team. You can't have it both ways, is what we're saying. And the Pats game was on a sunny day, not a rainy night. All division games in December with playoffs on the line, a level comparison.
I think you were making a John Abraham reference here, right. Good point. The Jets had a ton on the line against the Dolphins. Chad fought the flu and still went out and gave it what he had. Not his best, but he still gave us the best chance to win. I don't know about you, but when I have the flu, I don't want anybody to talk to me, let alone do something physical.
Miami wore their white uniforms against the Pats not the sissy teal ones they wore against the Jets. EVERYONE knows white uni's make you a better team...DUH!!!
