100% agree. I can't believe people say we have to give up 3 first-round picks or some other outrageous offer when the #2 pick is worth a ton & its cheap.

There are so many variables at play here it makes my head spin. The Jets clearly have the most to give the Texans but I can't imagine Watson wanting to come here. We know he likes Saleh but we've heard from a couple different sources that the Jets are not high up on Watson's list of desired locations, and one of those sources was Watson's agent. Watson will have to green light a trade to whichever team he ends up going to.

Something's going to have to give before the draft because the Texans really want a chance to reload with a top QB prospect before next season. I think it hurts the Texans more to retain Watson until after the draft than it hurts Watson. It would set their rebuild back by a full year in all likelihood. For Watson there are massive financial penalties if he sits out but he's probably wealthy enough to endure that pain for a while.

I wonder if the Dolphins could make a deal involving Tua? He didn't look great last season but perhaps good enough to where an organization could sell themselves on him. We also know that Watson likes the idea of going to the Dolphins.

Both sides have leverage over each other, and if Watson is okay with coming to the Jets, even if we aren't his first choice, he may end up coming here.

Which QB you hanging your reputation on with the #2 cheap is good, PROVEN QUALITY is a thing we have never had the chance of, of course, some would say we haven't anyway tbh.

I would love to keep the #2 and try and trade 3 other 1's if possible but if they are adamant it is the #2 and or no ball game then it would be just the #2 and possibly 1 #1 from 22.

Because as you say, this #2 is worth how much if we were to trade down? 3 picks? 4 picks?

At this point, I'm only offering the #2 pick. Houston gets to select their future QB and have him locked up at a cheap price.

Houston has no leverage since ownership pissed off the player. It was entirely their fault because they told him he would have a say in who the next GM would be. They gave a player far too much power. Now he will not go where they tell him to. They also know that bringing back an unhappy player, especially their star QB is a disaster whether he sits out or shows up to camp. Either way, huge PR nightmare.

I really think Miami is a great place for him. I love their head coach. Real leader. I live down here so I watch all their games and have been very impressed with their scrappy play on both sides of the ball. They are always in every game, except the last one in Buffalo.

I'm not making anything up. That's my opinion. If you don't agree, fine.

If anything, you are the one making stuff up saying he wouldn't accept a trade here. None of us knows where he will be willing to go for certain. Your perspective is cynical, biased and negative, but I can understand it based on Jets' history. Still things have changed and are changing for the better. Douglas has a lot of respect around the NFL. This organization doesn't have tremendous instability imo. Douglas has 4 more years on his contract and if he gets Watson, he isn't going anywhere. He has just been handed the keys to running the football operation. He hired the HC, got the one he wanted, the HC reports to him, and the HC has a 5-year contract. Where is this atrocious instability of the organization? I'll tell you where it is, it's in the past.

He may not want to come here, or Douglas may not be willing to trade the necessary draft capital to get him, but I believe if he agrees to be traded here that he will be happy. He is not some malcontent. We know he likes Saleh and wanted him to possibly be the HC in Houston. As long as the Jets put a solid OL in front him of him so he's not taking the pounding he did with Houston the last 4 years, has a competent HC and OC, and has quality targets to which he can throw, I believe that he will be happy.

I don't believe that working things out in Houston is even a possibility.

I think it was the value of the #2 pick and my unwillingness to trade it away, but still somehow trade for Watson.

I also seemed to ask you which QB you would draft with the #2 if we didn't trade for Watson, presumably because you said cheap is good ie a drafted QB on a rookie deal.

Sorry if I have seemingly confused you unintentionally.

I don't think the Texans want Tua. He had a serious injury and wasn't that good this past season. They could easily prefer the 2nd best QB in the draft.

If Watson really likes Saleh, and the Jets are willing and able to sign Thuney and Robinson, don't you think Watson might change his mind about coming to the Jets? I'm not saying that he will. I'm not even sure I really want him to come here. Part of me definitely does, but another part of me would like to see what we could do with Wilson and all those draft picks.

One thing is for certain, if Douglas is able to swing the trade, I will be very happy and excited that Watson will be our QB.

I would take three years of top 3 QB play without a second thought. At Year 3 they could draft their next FQB and have him sit behind Watson for a year or two, and those 5 years would miles better than we've seen for 10 years.

Again, the caveat is that they can get him for a reasonable cost.

I'm so torn on everything regarding Watson. He's definitely one of the top QB's in the league, something I've wanted for the Jets for ages. On the other hand, like you said, I'd be really interested to see what we could do with Wilson/Fields and 2-3 additional first round picks over the next 2 drafts. We'd also have more cap space without Watson so add in another solid free agent or two into the hypothetical without him. If we draft a rookie QB and he ends up being good it probably makes more sense to go that route and have a few impact players alongside him that we wouldn't have if we acquire Watson. Granted, the rookie QB working out is a big if.

I guess more than anything I just want to see the Jets finally build a good, young team through the draft like all the top franchises do. For that reason I prefer that we don't acquire Watson unless we can absolutely fleece the Texans for him, which JD may be capable of given the Adams trade. I don't know, though. I sort of want the confidence in our franchise that I'd only get by us building a talented roster through the draft. I want to believe that we're finally able to consistently run a franchise the right way.

If we only offer the #2 pick, Watson's going somewhere else.

I can totally see the Ravens getting Watson for Jackson and two 1st rounders.

She loves the US Women's Team (and has total disdain for the men's team). And whatever team Ronaldo plays for. She also likes German soccer - Bayern Munich. When she was younger she was in the pipeline for the US team but got hurt and that never worked out unfortunately. That's so often the story for highly talented kids in all the sports - it's ridiculously hard to make it to the pros.

Aside from that, she's a HUGE Yankees fan (and I take full responsibility for that too!).

That would be an interesting trade, but if it turns out lopsided in either direction, whichever GM is on the losing end of it would be permanently vilified.

Why would the Ravens do this?

    They're 30-7 in Jackson's starts.

Also it would probably cost the Texans 2 1st's to dump Watson's contract if they were also getting back Jackson.

The Ravens could be thinking that Jackson isn't gonna get them to the Super Bowl and Watson will.

Look how long they stuck with Flacco and I think Jackson is way better than him.
