You don't understand it correctly. Drop % is based on number of drops per pass attempts, not receptions. The Jets had a low number of receptions because Darnold was the 3rd least accurate QB in the NFL.

a few thoughts - 80%+ sounds good if you are in school, but check where they rank. Unless they are listed incorrectly, they almost all rank in the bottom 1/3 for their position. The only guy who doesn’t is Van Rotten and he’s actually really bad so not sure what to make of this...

As far as getting open - Jets have bad WR’s, TE’s... other than Crowder (who has never posted a 1k season), everyone else need to be upgraded. Mims has a chance to develop, but the one knock on him despite 4.38 speed was that he doesn’t play as fast as he times and has trouble getting separation. Perriman is not a #1 or even a #2...

I agree people are misinterpreting those stats. They are not favorable to our OL.

Please do go on, pop up some video evidence of multiple dropped TD passes in 2020.

I'll help you out with this site that says he dropped two catches all season, so if they were both in the EZ then you win.

I remember and it still annoys me. It’s the same deal with Leo Williams. Hopefully that buffoon Gettledonk doesn’t find that section in his hard copy binder of materials and re-signs him before free agency.

I think these experts like seeing the Jets suck, if they honestly think we would regret keeping the worst QB in the league starting by far for another year and then release him to get nothing they really shouldnt be called experts

    Which Miami game?

Here are 12minutes of lowlights and it doesn't feel the need to show a dropped pass in the EZ he was 1 for 3 targets but it didn't show either missed throws, so I am guessing they weren't dropped as it shows plenty of other broken up plays etc and certainly it would be showing a dropped Jets TD as we had not many highlights to show.

Nor does it mention it on here but it does mention the Rams drop, bit odd to mention one and not the other, the same site also states that he wasn't targetted in the 2nd Miami game.

Still, I think you're over-egging the pudding criticising a #5 WR and as for quoting and answering yourself in another post put the fucking liquor down.

He dropped a wide open pass from Flacco in the 1st Miami game. Ugh he's not our #5. He's #2 in receptions on our team. Check the stats. https://www.espn.com/nfl/team/stats/_/name/nyj/new-york-jets

That's how laughable the receiving core is. Braxton Berrios is our #2. Stop with the Darnold hate. Berrios is a barely makes any NFL roster in this league.

Did he drop it in the EZ that was the point, they do not mention it anywhere or show it on the highlight reel or in the other link I submitted?

I was only replying to your wild claims of multiple EZ drops (not some rant about the state of our WR corps and hating Sam) but at worst even if I give you the benefit of the doubt that would be two drops, which really just sneaks into the term multiple, which leads me to believe that its use is aim is to make a situation look worse than it was and on seeing your don't hate on Sam comment I see why, maybe you need to go and watch all the clips that people have put up of Sam missing wide-open receivers before you come on here bitching about a WR4 under the guidance of a genius HC.

You're right he wasn't our number 5 he was our number 4 WR that was in and out of the team, he wasn't a number 2 WR, he may well have been targeted the second most but surely you are not that dumb to think that makes him the number 2 WR?

Drop % is PER ATTEMPTS. It accounts for number of attempts. It's a percentage.

I'm not saying the Jets had a lower number of total drops. I'm saying that when accounting for number of attempts they did not drop the ball more often than many other teams. What are you not understanding here?

    O
Our wideouts were scrubs except for Crowder. Is that clear enough.

He had thd 2nd most receptions on the team. he’s our #2.

You guys ever thought about maybe the wide receivers didn’t run the correct route or not in the right spot.

This is why Josh Allen jumped. He got arguably the #2 WR route runner in the league. when you have good route runners they are in the right spot and get separation, and trust with the QB. You can’t build that with scrubs.

Watch Diggs from day one. He was an excellent route runner that his QBs trusted to be where they need to be.

To be fair, you don't have to drop the ball in the end zone to drop a TD. It could be on the 10 yard line and you have a walk in. Or you could be further back behind the D with a clear road in. There were times last season when Berrios was the Jets' #2 receiver. Hell, there might have been one game where he was #1. He's a bottom of the roster guy but was thrust into a far more prominent role than his ability merited.
