I actually said the same thing watching the game... I suggested to my friend that Chad spend an extra day or two down there and get some sun on South Beach...
did he really say that? I was @ the game so i didnt hear this dumbass talk.....and i'm glad i didnt, thats very unprofessional ur right...still dont know how they picked that loser to be on MNF.....he has no clue....JERK!
He sure did: http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/116728610311790.xml&coll=1 Jets: Watching is tough on Martin Thursday, December 28, 2006 BY DAVE HUTCHINSON Star-Ledger Staff HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. This is the type of game that Curtis Martin used to live for, an all-or-nothing playoff scenario in the final week of the season. Instead, the Jets' future Hall of Fame running back will be a spectator on Sunday at the Meadowlands when the Jets (9-6) can earn a playoff berth with a victory over the lowly Raiders (2-13). Coincidentally, Martin's streak of 126 starts -- and almost certainly his career -- came to an end the week of last season's Raiders game when he could no longer tolerate the pain in his right knee. "It (Sunday's game) gets the juices flowing," Martin told The Star-Ledger yesterday in a rare interview. "I always have those thoughts, 'Man, I wish I could be out there helping the team in some type of way. I know I can contribute.' Unfortunately, I can't. "On a scale of one to 10, it's probably like a nine, a 9 1/2. I really miss it. I miss more than just football. I miss the camaraderie. I miss the leadership. I miss the accountability. I miss that ongoing challenge. I just liked to challenge myself every day, every practice." Martin, who said he's as busy as ever with his off-the-field businesses -- "I'm flying all over the place" -- said he's excited for his teammates, and now is the time for them to perform. "This is that time of year where everything comes to a head," he said. "This is what you play the whole season for, everything is on the line. It's the ultimate pressure and it's in the ultimate arena. This is when you see what a team is made of." ... As expected, RB Cedric Houston worked with the first team yesterday in practice and is expected to replace Kevan Barlow against the Raiders and get the bulk of the carries. Houston missed last week's game with a calf injury. ... CB Andre Dyson, who injured his right knee against the Dolphins, is wearing a huge brace on the knee and won't play against the Raiders. He didn't practice and is listed as questionable. Veteran David Barrett or Justin Miller is expected to replace him. ... WR Laveranues Coles, who took a vicious shot to the head area from Dolphins LB Zach Thomas, is listed as questionable with a head/jaw injury. Initially, the Jets said Coles injured his chin. The Jets have denied that Coles had a concussion. He lay on the field for several minutes following the hit by Thomas. Coles will play against the Raiders. ... QB Chad Pennington, who will start for an entire 16-game schedule for the first time in his career when he plays on Sunday, said he wasn't offended by Tony Kornheiser's remark on "Monday Night Football" that his dog has a stronger arm than he does. "Tony is very sarcastic," Pennington said. "He's going to get a laugh. I think that's him, and that's fine." ... RB Leon Washington, whose 64-yard run on a screen pass set up the winning TD against the Dolphins, had hands of stone during training camp. Coach Eric Mangini joked yesterday that Washington ran so many laps for dropping passes and punts that "he could've run the New York Marathon after just the rookie minicamp." Raiders QB Aaron Brooks, who is 0-7 as a starter, is expected to start against the Jets. ... Word out of Oakland is that Randy Moss (ankle) is well enough to play but has simply packed it up for the season. He's listed as questionable.
John Abraham would have been out for the playoffs. He has his career to think about. Way to be, Chad.
New excuses from the fans every week on why he sucks, and now the Jets are spreading crap on why he isn't good. Amazing.
He's a great guy, but I can't stand him on the field since his surgeries. Everything is a floater. It used to be just the deep stuff, which was fine, but now 5 yard out patterns and dump offs to RBs in the flat float too. He makes boneheaded throws often
You just do not get it, do you. Your blind hatred for certain players is overwhelming. Nobody in this thread has annoited Chad as being the greatest QB ever. I would like to know how well you would perform in a rainstorm while being ill. Chad is our QB this year. He is 9-6. If you think Ramsey or Clemens would have the Jets in a better position at this point, you are sadly mistaken.
One of the biggest shames of Curtis not playing this year is the fact that besides Chad he is the perfect player for Mangini. How much better would this team be with a healthy Curtis? Oh, we can only imagine...
See what I cannot undrestand one poster charging another poster when he just giving his HO & just saying what is his HO that is required to upgrade the team & make it stronger so we can win another CHAMPIONSHIP. Besides Herm/Cottrell & PH I do not think there was a "hated" NYJ player or coach it just that CP brings certain limitations to the field that the FO/CS must deal with
Gotta throw up the Bullshit flag on this one. Aren't you the guy who labels evryone as a SLW or HW? Isn't it you that has a spreadsheet on alot of TGG posters?
That limitation is the lack of a first-rate RB. All this Chad hate is absurd. Once the Jets get a competent running game going, our offense will be unstoppable.
Sorry it is not a RB it his arm weakness. Do you really think if we are 2 TDs down with 8:00 left in the game do you really think CP can bring us back when what will be required is sideline passes & deep passes with zip on the. If I may respectfully say you to are thinking what is better for the player instead of what will make the TEAM stronger so that we can win a CHAMPIONSHIP
He has had a couple of pretty good weeks and a couple of pretty bad weeks... but overall I think he has been a bonus this year for us. I think he runs the offense well. Sure his passes float, but he is still pretty effective running the offense. Jeff George had the biggest arm in the game, but he couldn't manage a game to save his life. I am happy with Chad this season. I think we can win with him as our QB. I don't think he is the type of QB who can put the entire team on his back and carry them, but honestly, there are not too many qb's who can.
