ugggh..... forecast came 6 hours ahead of schedule.
Bumpy from the start and got worse as we pushed out...... stopped at 1st spot about 20 off in 100' and I jigged up a decent Cobia (20lbs ish)
Then we started to head east to high-speed troll for wahoo...... nothing but short period 3-5' seas (with one freak bigger one that came over the bow). it was a long, WET ride home.

sore and moving slow this morning

No, it's big wahoo time (bottom fishing is still good, just have to head farther out now).... just need to be a bit more selective on our days. ;) We kinda knew it may be a crapshoot, but it was our only window for awhile, as it's supposed to blow all week again.

I think there's an initial shock from that xmas cold snap (xmas eve was 76º... Xmas morning was 36, and blowing west at 30-40)..... things should improve if we get some ese winds with lighter days (of course with my luck those will come when I have to work (not really diggin the 9-5 structure of this new job, even if it is from home)

Thanks. We'll probably Hi-speed for a bit and hopefully get a wahoo or two, then bottom fish the rest of the day. Supposedly Triggers have been chewing. I'd like to jig up some more cobia. alot more fun than catching trigger fish ;)

Supposed to be in the 40s tomm morn.... that's gonna be a long cold run in a center console. Only gloves I have are yard work gloves

Hopefully there's reward for the punishment this time.....

Been a while since I have been in here! A lot of life going on for me and travel for work and a few vacations up in the mountains.

Headed out this Saturday! Chasing Wahoo, Kings, and maybe some Sails! This little cold front we got usually sends them running!

Cousin bought a 36 Luhrs were headed out on. Should be a good time!

Cold ride out there in the 40s (to go 50 miles).... long stretch of west winds had water kinda shitty still. Hi-Speed trolled for wahoo for quite awhile and put up a goose-egg.
Bottom fished for a while, and that was fairly slow too (some vermillions and a few triggers)..... I did hook up to one beast on my spinner with a slow-pitch jig in 180'. Probably a big Amberjack, that I fought for awhile, until the leader popped  (was prob 40-50#) .... "Is your drag too loose? (as it's screaming).... "Look at my rod and tell me! (50-100# jigging rod bowed over in a full arc) I caught a couple of smaller ones... and also proceeded to lose 2 more jigs

tired this morn.... prob wont head off shore until springtime unless stars align on a sunday (my one day off)

The sails should be in force down your way. They were up here a few weeks ago.

Winter has finally hit the NE with both barrels. The offshore water temps are now in the low 40's off the EC. Looks like Late April to Mid May for the '21 season to begin..

Getting the itch.. Looking at the wall in my garage. Inspecting the gear with over 90 days out until May '21. This is gonna be tough but I'll make it. Maybe I'll just have a glass of water every time I get the urge to break out the cold weather gear and get on a Jersey Blackfish boat...:)

As the snow falls outside my house, I'm practicing tying knots and leaders for the upcoming season. Probably will put some lube on the reels as well in the coming weeks. May 6th-7th will be my first trip of '21. Going 40-80mi offshore to fish wrecks for Cod.

Went out for Cod early and got reminded that its still winter in the ocean. Water temps were just above 40F which was entirely too cold to get anything going. Just a few Cod and Ling came over the rail. Beautiful day on the water though. Beats the hell out of hunnydo's.

I’ll be waxing and painting today.
38’ Henriques will take a few hours to get ready to splash.
Those Giants will be on the move soon....

Henriques builds a great boat.... my buddy's dad had a 35, and then a 42 (I was partial to that 35 though) ;)
