interesting stuff. There's a lot of time though to make it work financially so some of the cap related concerns they pose with other teams could simply be irrelevant with other moves to make Watson possible (renegotiations, trades, retirements) plus isn't the cap number not official yet? I could be wrong on that.
Yes, for this reason, if Douglas actually wants Watson, it's in his interest to close this deal sooner rather than later to not allow some other teams to make moves that would free up cap space and/or acquire assets that allow them to outbid Douglas. For this reason, the longer this drags out, the less I believe Douglas is interested.
Dude c'mon. You post a lot of good stuff. But this is just silly. If you want to go back through draft profiles and believe you like prospect Lawrence over prospect Watson that's cool and makes sense. But NFL near All-Pro Watson is a far superior player than never played an NFL down Lawrence.
you realize your calling someone a poor version of another person who hasn't even played in the league yet right? I hope this was a joke and Watson had a 70 percent completion percentage last season Lawrence might never hit that number in any season spare me the nonsense. You prob friends with McShay and think Watson is only slightly better than Sam Darnold im gonna guess smh
Not for nothing, but let’s hope Easterby likes McShay’s analysis. Maybe then the Jets can trade Darnold and a third for Watson. Because, you know, the latter is only slightly better than the former.
Texans are refusing calls about Watson. https://bleacherreport.com/articles...no-on-watson-leaving-qb-to-make-his-next-move Somewhat expected though. No reason to move him now or urgently pursue it.
Not going to hear anything until a few weeks from the draft. Texans need to do their evaluations on the QB class.
It's in the Texan's best interest to drag this out and give as many teams a chance to come up with the means to make a strong offer to them. That means making trades and reworking contracts which take time. If Douglas wants to get Watson he needs to convince the Texans to trade before more competition appears. I doubt however that Douglas is going to be pushed to alter his timetable/approach.
A little misleading - he says that Watson would welcome a trade to the Jets, so it's not that he doesn't like them. It's just that they're not his top choice.
Not really.. I have Lawrence as one of the best prospects of all time at any position. Lawrence is bigger, stronger, faster, stronger arm and in my honest opinion could he the best player in the league within a few years. Watson is a really good FQB but he’s not a super star generational player the way Lawrence will be. Nowhere close.
Again, I like a lot of what you post but this is just insanity. Maybe Lawrence will be the next Peyton Manning or Tom Brady but you'd have a very hard time finding a GM that wouldn't trade an unknown for a locked in top tier elite QB.
Here’s the thing I really like Watson and I think he’s a sure fire FQB. He’s not a generational talent that Lawrence is. If we had #1 I would never trade it straight up for Watson. No chance
I definitely get where ur coming from. However, would you of traded Andrew Luck the year he was coming out for Watson? No, no chance..
You mean if Andrew Luck was coming out this year and all things were the same with Watson? Yes, without question I would.
Perfect example of It gets worse? You have him as one of the best prospects ever? A lot of people do. So what? Watson is actually doing it and has been for 4 years. 1st all time completion percentage. 2nd all time qb rating. All while behind a bad oline and this past year a completely dysfunctional organization.
