Multiple teams have reached out and contacted the Jets about Darnold to let them know they love what they are doing with Sam and to keep up the great work in 2021 and beyond!

I don't see Lance as a massive project at all, but do think he should sit and learn for most of 2021.

in terms of high he goes, who knows.
Not being ready day 1 does make it more challenging to take him top 10.
However, with those intangibles and physical skills on display with upcoming meetings, workouts, etc....I think the buzz and interest is going to grow quickly.
I got a feeling he doesn't get past Detroit at 7, and if he does Minnesota would trade up and get it done.

Personally I'm interested in the Jets getting to him first, pending how those up close evaluations go.
He's got the best ceiling outside of Lawrence imo.

No football this week and after Sunday until free agency. All these stories are getting our attention but seriously no one has any inside information on what the Jets are thinking. Watson's people and the Texans think they can influence some teams to pony up big for the player. Get the fans fired up and try to influence ownership to make the move. It's Douglas' call and it's really unlikely that he will hire a new coach and give up all his draft capital. The Jets have big holes to fill.

How anyone can continue to say "all his draft capital" is so far beyond me. We have 4 1s in the next two years and last I checked the draft is 7 rounds.

If by some miracle they can get a 1st for Darnold they should absolutely do it and use 3 of the 5 1s for Watson.

Luckily we have 5 of them in the next three years and would still have 2 along with a franchise QB if we made a deal.

We'll give them Henry Anderson, Ryan Griffin and Alex Lewis.

I disagree that Lance is a "massive project." What makes you think that he is? There are really only two question marks about him imo, the level of competition and that he only started one year. His mechanics look to be solid, he is accurate, can go through his progressions, makes good decisions and doesn't turn the ball over.

I think it's a very real possibility. For one, I'm sure that JD was doing due diligence. For another, they could get Stafford for a lot cheaper than they could Watson. They could start Stafford for 2-3 years, and still draft someone like Lance to groom behind Stafford.

It would make zero sense to trade for Stafford in a rebuilding year.

Stafford has at least 5 years of football in him, which is an eternity in the NFL.

Agreed. I'd actually view it as a bad thing. By the time the rest of our roster is ready to compete for a Super Bowl Stafford will likely be in decline. Meanwhile we'll negatively impact our draft position the next few years as we compile records that are better but not good enough to make a serious SB run.

And we'd give up rebuild capital for a QB that is not our future. It makes no sense.

Must be a lot of teams interested in a backup QB, or was it CFL teams?
