Kick ass band heading into downtown as we speak. Yeah on Wednesday morning. The duration reminds me of 96. Think the totals will too. Only difference are temps. Bout 7 degrees warmer with this storm but man...many similarities
OK...I'm in heaven. Wow. 4k and its a great one. Cam of times square live. Picking up every flake. That's it on the big screen. I'm done. This will stay on for next 36 hours. Have other TV next to it for life in general. Wow. Great clarity!! EarthCam live: Times square in 4k.
Its possible boss. Very Oh...one last thing. And im reminding myself too...this is foreplay. See the empty areas in south jersey heading our way? It will all fill in come sunrise. The hardest part of the storm is roughly 7am to midnight tomorrow. Tonight ? Just enjoy.
I remember walking down Columbus Ave in '96 with nearly 2 feet of snow on the ground. I was passing busses as I walked, they were doing maybe 5 miles an hour where they were moving at all. The snow plows had piled up to 5 feet of snow on each side of the road and the sidewalks were buried. The only way to get up or downtown was by walking on the road. There's nothing quite like a city buried in snow before the cleanup has really started.
Hey Br...great to see you I totally agree sir. I can't lie. I'm watching times square... Snow falling....the beauty of it. I can't lie. Got a little emotional here. Miss it dearly. Couple more years. I think im heading back. I so miss it. And that storm was a classic bury. Temps in the mid teens. MID TEENS during the entire storm with incredible winds allowed amazing drifting. You couldn't make a snowball. Powder. Blowing for days after
1:30am - solid inch+ on the ground and coming down steadily with big wet flakes. It's a heavy snow and we'll have 6" or more on the ground by sunrise. Winds are basically non-existent, which is a blessing because when we get winds and big heavy snow like this we lose power pretty consistently. Took an inch off the car and planning on doing that every hour or so. Easy cleanup now will become much harder if I let it accumulate. Main road has the occasional car idling by at 25 mph, about half speed for after midnight traffic. Visibility must be pretty bad at speed at this point.
2:50am - just did my second sweep of the area around my post. Took close to 3 inches off the walking surfaces and another couple of inches off my car. The weather reports all said 1-3" this evening into the morning hours and we've got the high end of that already. The forecast says the next hour is light snow and that actually seems to be happening, snow has tailed off some over the last half hour. Heavier snow predicted from 4am onwards through tomorrow evening. I just can't fathom heavy snow for the time period the forecast is calling for. I can't remember a snow storm that lasted more than 12 hours going back to 2011. I'm kind of hoping this one doesn't have the staying power the forecasts predict.
Did not measure but looks like 3 or 4 inches so far,,,,,,,,,the fun and games will begin soon when it starts to come down. I have seen reports of sleet in certain areas in NJ and I am hoping they are either wrong or that once this gets cranking those reports turn back to snow. Also there is one model that is bringing the sleet line into NYC as early as the A M , again I am hoping that it is out to lunch as no other model shows this In fact they all still hold serve and say that we get buried,,,,,
About 3” so far. Starting to drift. Looking at 12 hours behind the wheel today not including commute. Should be fun
6" here and still falling. If the snow is really going to pick up in a few hours we will get a foot and a half easy before this is over.
Like a wall of snow is coming off the Atlantic and heading right for nnj and the city....and back into pa. Here we....go. This is it guys and girls. Within one hour it will be cats and dogs. Rain snow line just east of i95. How far north and west it goes today will be story number 2 But story number 1 is coming like a train.
I've only seen about 3 inches so far in New Milford, CT (Litchfield County). Danbury seems to be getting hit harder so far. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
