They won’t be forced to trade him, they will accept a trade that is too good to turn down. No, his contract doesn’t simply expire after four years. He will have to report at some point and execute his obligation to the contract he signed.

Trade me or I don’t play is a threat. they’ll decide to trade him because he has value and they’ll decide they can capture a significant benefit by doing so but because he demands it.

The Texans would be morons to not say what they said. They have two+ months to try to rectify the situation. They will explore that before running to the phone to make the trade. If they move him they need draft picks this year. But they have until draft time to make that determination even though they'll likely try to make a move as free agency opens.
