The tweet literally says they’ve received calls from the Jets.

edit: eh, I guess I see what you’re saying. I read it definitely. Fair enough though.

I also dont understand what he means by "playing hardball". To me JD playing hardball with Houston means we aren't offering a lot - not that we are forcing a trade.

It’s not clear, but the Jets playing hardball with the offer isn’t a position of power by the Jets because it isn’t as if the Texans are desperate to trade him to the Jets and have to take whatever they offer.

If we get Watson, we need that 2nd pick. I would trade the 23rd, Darnold, and another pick. That's it. He's not Aaron Rodgers or Pat Mahomes.

We will have to part with #2 I think to make this a reality, but the overall number of picks we give may come down

What would you trade for Aaron Rodgers or Pat Mahomes, who are both surrounded by way more talent than Watson?

    Riiiiiight
I'd love to get Watson for that package. But I think Miami would offer the #18, Tua and "another pick" and be way ahead of us.

Then Miami can have him. #2 pick is way too valuable in this draft & we need players.

Its gonna take both first rounders this year, next years Seattle first rounder and either a good player or our 2023 first rounder AT LEAST. Not saying I would do it but Houston is gonna get killed by there fan base and media no matter what they get but they better get a lot. I would give up 3 first rounders and Sam for this guy.

If Miami can get Watson for the #18, Tua and say a second, they be crazy not too and we could look forward to getting our ass kicked twice a year.

And I agree about needed players, specifically a QB because our current starter sucks.

I think the Texans are going to slow play this. There is no rush on their end to make a deal.

I think the argument is that it would be the 3 plus 18, Tua and a second.

any trade for Watson starts with the 2 then minimizing additional picks, not keeping the 2 and trading a bunch of other picks to make up that value.

The Jets are going to have to part with #2 pick if they want Watson. We are talking about a 25 year old franchise QB who is one of the best in the league. He also has 4 years left on his current deal so he would come here with term. It would solve the Jets biggest need for the next 10-12 years.

It’s sheer and utter nonsense that the potential of the #2 pick is of greater value than the proven ability of Watson.

It's a pretty quick phone call without that pick. While Stafford probably has 3-5 legitimate suitors, Watson will have at least double that with a wide range of deals.

Along with premium picks, there will be some high-profile young players offered to land Watson. I could see Nick Bosa being one of them.

I don't care about the Dolphins. Only our team. We're in agreement on needed players & Darnold being crap. How do we build a team if we give up the farm for Watson? We will be middle of the pack going nowhere. I would trade the 2nd pick and a lot more if Houston blows it up and gives us additional players otherwise I see no point since we're not close to being a contender even with Watson.

Exactly. Any OB in this draft we hope would turn into Watson. Go get the proven QB. I realize the Jets have to rebuild the roster but to solve the most important position is a no brainer. It would also make the Jets-Bills games must see TV with Watson and Allen.

Also, the Jets SHOULD part with the #2 pick if they want Watson. It's not like this is a winning franchise with an historical record of competence. The fact that we were lucky enough to lose to the point where the Jets hold the 7th pick is a blessing in this situation. If a few balls bounced differently and we were still trash, but in Detroit's situation with the 7th pick, the outlook for our chances would be very different right now.

The #2 pick is an amazing trump card to possess in this situation. The Jets have basically the exact hand you'd want to hold in this game, and while losing out because Deshaun wanted some place else is one thing, Douglas choosing not to play his hand at all would be crazy to me, personally.

Also, if the Jets somehow actually acquire Watson, and Darnold carries any meaningful weight at all in the package, I'm going to be laughing for a long time.
