Thank you that is why I'm warning you. When a guy wants out before you even know who might be the new coach, that is also a red flag. Getting this guy he might want out to in 2 years. Here's hoping the Jets draft better players and build a better team.
Because I don't get into the hype. He is not a game changing QB. He'll make you happy in spurts but in the end, he'll let you down. Houston has no problem dumping him off on another team. They aren't even trying to keep him. Think about that.
Are you complaining about Watson not going further in the playoffs his 1st full season? Or his 2nd full season when they lost to the Chiefs who went on to win the Superbowl? The Texans put up 31 and were up 24-0 at one point. Watson threw for 2TD, 0INT, nearly 400 yards, and ran a TD in with another 40 rushing yards. He's got the highest completion percentage of all time. In his 3 full years he's averaged nearly 4400 yards with 30TD and 10INT plus another 480 yards on the ground with 5 rushing TDs. And his numbers are trending up.
2020 2020 NFL AFC South 3rd 4 12 0 I guess that's the optimist view of trending upwards. I myself not seeing it.
No, it's just reality. He's 25. He has the highest completion percentage in the history of the NFL. He has the 2nd highest passer rating in the history of the NFL. He's done this behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league over his career.
That's cool. But acknowledgement of the players excellence should be said in the same sentence even if you don't think it's a good fit to make the move for him. Especially since he's not turnover prone at all. He hasn't gotten over the hump yet but he's also only 25.
What the hell are you talking about? Lol. Houston most definitely wants to keep him, that's why they also gave him a long-term contract just a few months ago. They are trying to repair the relationship with him. But if Watson is adamant about wanting out, then they won't have much of a choice but to trade him for the highest offer they can get if the relationship has deteriorated that badly. And the dude is a franchise/elite QB, he's most definitely a game-changer. But let me guess, you want to stick with Sam Darnold next season? Lol
Look at the talent around him this past season and then get back to me. Without Watson, they may have legit gone winless, or maybe picked 1 win. Based on your posts about him, it's clear you have 0 (or less than) clue about Watson. Are you sure you ain't referring to another QB? Lol
i agree with you. i am ok with trading down with the lions, but the price for watson is excessive. in that case, stick with sam and build up the rest of the team. as a general rule, i would rather stockpile picks than trade them away. free agency is expensive, and doesn't really work out. we tried it in the past, way too many times. we wouldn't be in the mess we are , had we did much better in the draft , especially in rounds 2-5 , historically.
I've watched way more of Watson than I care for even going back to Clemson. I also lived in Texas how bout you?
Nope I want Douglas to find our QB that fits what Saleh and Lafleur are going to be doing. Maybe Watson isn't a fit for what they want to do.
the guy won his division in year 2 and year 3. then in year 4 had an MVP caliber season and led the league in passing while having a 4:1 TD to INT ratio. 10 games in 2020 he didn't throw any INTs they went 3-7 in those 10 games. 5 games he threw 1 INT he went 0-5 1 game he threw 2 INTs he went 1-0 your just making stuff up at this point. it's 1 thing if you don't want him for cap or giving up picks. but lets not pretend this guy isn't a great QB. no reason to make shit up
How would you know? The Jets have been in tank mode for the last 3 years. The kid had enough fortitude to win a few games when everyone wanted them to go 0-16 for Lawrence.
I said it from the beginning I would not give up draft capital for Watson. How bout we just do the hard work of scouting and draft our own. These sensationalize moves never worked out for the Jets.
nobody has ever traded a 25 year old pro bowl QB before in the history of the NFL so you can't say it won't work out based on history. there is no history. it's unprecedented. as far as the draft goes, if I liked the Qbs more i'd be more inclined but I really don't like this QB class that much to pass up on watson if it's resonable. I wouldn't sell the farm but basically trading jamaal adams and 2 overall for watson is a great trade anyway you look at it
