There are only two possible things anyone can say about Sam: (1) He's terrible. (2) It's impossible to know if he's any good because he has always had terrible coaching, terrible weapons, terrible offensive line, etc., etc. In no universe can anyone say anything good about him with any certainty. Thus, there are two acceptable endings to the sentence that starts "If Sam had played for the Bills today,": (1) they would have lost by more (possibly a lot more). (2) we have no freaking clue if he would have been better, the same, or worse.
Watson posted this earlier today. If I'm wearing my tinfoil hat, this is him suggesting that he's willing to withhold his services if the Texans don't move him.
If he didn’t have a lucrative contract already, this looks like a precursor to one of those “I need to put food on the table” holdouts. The ones where “food” is actually “gold Rolexes”. If your monthly expenses are 10% of your entire suitcase of money, you should probably look at reducing your cost base first.
I don't think that is what it is saying. I think he is saying he has plenty of cash to hold out for a trade or whatever. He's been pretty cryptic but that's what I think he means. He hasn't been about the money. He's unhappy there for multiple reasons. They have failed to build around him and there have been racist accusations.
I have a feeling the Texans are going to challenge him to do so. Not only would it be extremely detrimental to his career but there's only so long he can continue to eat those fines without a paycheck. I'm sure he has has money saved. But are you willing to sacrifice $15+ million (and potentially way more if it details your career) to make a point?
Yes. The more that comes out about his complaining after literally signing on the dotted line five months ago, the further away I get from wanting the Jets to get him.
If this were a Jamal situation where he’s bitching about wanting to get paid, I’d agree. This is a guy trying to get away from terrible ownership and one of the biggest messes in pro sports. Even if he didn’t end up with the Jets, I’d completely support his desire to gtfo.
The situation has not changed one inkling from when he signed that contract. In fact, they ridded the franchise of the Bill O'Brien stink and gutted the entire franchise in terms of the front office and coaching staff. He's being a baby because he's pissed at himself for signing that deal when he wanted to leave and trying to renege on his massive contract. It's not like he's been playing on that deal for three years. In some ways, it's worse than Adams. I won't be upset if we're the beneficiary of it, but he's being a diva because he controlled his own destiny and fucked it up.
Yeah right. Organizational racism that just came to light in the past four months and definitely wasn't there for his past three and a half years with the organization before he signed his deal. He had three and a half years to analyze this as being an issue before he signed his contract. Maybe it's a big problem? Maybe it's not? But he chose to stay there whether it is or isn't an issue. I believe he thought the team and offense were going to be fine and he could still float at 8-8/9-7. And he played this season and realized he couldn't and will have to wait another full playing season and off-season before he can get reinforcements. They didn't hire a black GM? That's it? That's why he wants to leave? C'mon dude. Read in between the lines here. Cries of racism (might be true, might not be true) make him a sympathetic figure in the media and not labeled as a Randy Moss/TO diva that comes with being a holdout.
I think the reason that's most been attributed to his discontent is that he wasn't made a part of the hiring process as his contract supposedly dictates. Of course we have to read between the cryptic lines for all of this because I don't think I've ever read a complete sentence from Watson during this entire time about why he's unhappy.
You are making us about race, not me. You still haven’t actually mentioned why he wants out. And at this point it won’t even really matter because you’re mind is extremely made up. At least you realize it could end up being great for us.
