it's the old jamaal adams mantra during the trade. we missed the playoffs with him, we can miss it without him. watson alone doesn't make us a playoff team. I don't think people get that. unless they want us to be the lions. great QB, fun to watch offense. no wins
To add to this, Allen Robinson's agent is Brandon Parker, who works for Vaynersports, which is owned by none other than Gary V
The Rams won their division twice since 2004. The Ravens won their division 3/11 years with Flacco. The Niners won their division 3 times since 2003. The Packers won their division 8/10 with Rodgers. The Pats won their division 17/18 with Brady. The Steelers won their division 8/16 years with Big Ben. The Saints won their division 7/15 years with Brees. Elite QB play is the only way to sustain a winning team in the NFL.
Sorry, no offense, but I think that is utter nonsense. He is a MUCH better prospect than Sam ever was.
Because when we trade for Watson, the FO will pat themselves on the back, go on vacation and skip the draft and free agency because their job is done.
no it's because his 40 million a year cap hit and all the picks we would have to give up. it's not madden you can't turn off salary cap
lol just divison? who cares sometimes you can win 12 games and not the divison. the rams and niners and ravens have all made the playoffs consistently despite being in really tough divisons. if any of them were in the NFC east they'd win it every year. nice way to try and skew data. the second you do that you know your wrong.
Good roster + good coaching staff can make up for having an elite QB. You really just need an efficient QB that can command the offense to win the time of possession battle.
I'll say it again - The idea that the Jets can only build a winning team by having 2 first round picks in the next 2 drafts is absurd. The argument that teams couldn't win with good QBs like Stafford or Rivers is flawed. 1, Watson is better than those QBs. 2, they didn't lose because of good QB play, they lost because their GMs drafted poorly and signed the wrong guys.
According to some people we're giving up every single resource we have to get him. Not like we'd have 22 other picks and 60M in cap with a cornerstone LT on a rookie deal...
Good teams make the playoffs and maybe win a playoff game or two. Good teams with top tier QB play win Super Bowls. The key is getting a top tier QB and building the team up around him.
It is extreme. For starters, Smith is unproven at the NFL level. And no WR (even the best of the best ones) has the impact of an elite QB. No WR can realistically match the numbers of an elite QB either in a season.
Yet so many Jets fans do not want to draft a qb at 2 . I think that Houston hires Eric B as coach and Watson stays in Houston.
Winning your division means you make the playoffs. Making the playoffs is sustained winning. Here's another way to look at it. Since 2002, the Super Bowl has been won by Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Russel Wilson, and Patrick Mahomes 14 out of 17 times. Rodgers, Mahomes, or Brady are well on their way to adding another to that list.
nobody is saying we won't have cap space or picks either. becuase they don't want to see the pros and cons. as i pointed out it's watson, and maybe 2 late 1st rounders over the next 3 years 5 1st rounders over the next 3 years 1 of them being 2nd overall and 1 of them likely being high as well. allen robinson, joe thuney, bud dupree
