Those teams have had sustained success because of elite QB play. Teams that don't have elite QB play rarely consistently make the playoffs and put them in position to win a title.

there is a difference in pick value too. having the 2nd overall is worth 2 picks in the mid 20s. that's a huge thing to offer in the draft. on top of that we wouldn't have a 1st in 2023 according to the proposed trades and our 2022 1st will likely be mid 20s even if we suck. and cap room will be sparse. you have to look at the whole picture of watsons cost

we would be giving up 4 cheap possibly high quality rookies, robinson, thuney, dupree just for 1 watson.

Lol or they realize we can still build a team around a Top 5 QB with a good GM and a slew of draft picks and cap space.

And he wants to come to the Jets which must mean he thinks they’ll be a winning team for 4-5 years no?

rams have done it for quite some time now. so did the ravens with flacco for many years. pats went 11-5 without brady when he got hurt. niners have been doing it for quite some time. when was the last time they had an elite QB? they made the SB with kapernick and garrapolo at QBs in the past decade. dilfer won one, brad johnson won one. hell we had a trent dilfer kerry collins SB lol.

brady has skewed a lot becuase of his sustained defense but you remove brady and the pats who had it all and you'll see. elite QBs on bad teams never see success. watson this year, rivers and stafford their whole careers. hell mark sanchez has more playoff wins then carson palmer, stafford, rivers, and watson combined.

right he was off by 2 tds and less than 100 yards. You are really nitpicking a couple of arbitrary numbers. Are you Staffords father or something?

not alot of teams have cap room and picks to trade for him. and he likes saleh as it seems most players do. he isn't going to the colts where he could legit win a SB. houston won't trade him to a division rival. if the niners got him they would be hard to beat but they don't have the picks and cap room to do it.

As far we we know he likes the Jets because Saleh. Its certainly not for the Johnsons or our stellar roster. The truth is he is likely just using us a smoke to put heat on the Texans.

i'm not nitpicking i'm saying you can't say a 3rd year player has a better career or a better player then someone who's done it for a decade. i'd take watson over brees right now but brees was by far the better QB and deserves the respect and acknowledgment for it

Actually your take is so bad I’d like to hear to expound upon it. Youre arguing Smith is as valuable as Watson?

ROFLMAO!!! That is one of the most clueless posts I've ever seen on a Jets' site. A WR, even a very good one is not going to have the same Impact as one of the top 3 QBs in the NFL, especially if he doesn't have a decent QB throwing the ball to him. SMH

I'm saying he would likely translate to as many wins next season as Watson would.

I'm not backing off of that statement. Maybe it is extreme, but I believe it.
