That's because many people are inherently biased, lazy, and closed minded. They don't read or research, just go on what they "believe" to be true. Even when they are presented with the facts that prove their opinions/beliefs wrong, they still continue to hold fast to their opinions/beliefs. How many times have posters said that if we trade for Watson we won't be able to build around him, and how many times have I and others shown how that is absolutely false? It's really sad, and shows why our country is so divided and in such a mess.

Definitely a possibility....clearly we did Sam NO favors anywhere....shit coaches, shit OL, shit RBs, shit receivers

I fully agree that very few, if any, QBs would have done well in the same spot...many would, likely have done better, but who knows

    This is ridiculous.

Watson just had a historically great season after losing his #1 target to a stupid trade and his head coach being fired mid season. His top receiving target was suspended for the last 4 games of the season and his 2nd best receiver missed a game as well. He has the highest completion percentage EVER in the NFL. He's 2nd ALL TIME to Maholmes in QB rating. He had more than double the TDs our QBs had last year and half the INTs.

If you claim that he's arguable top 5, you should be able to intelligently argue that he's not top 5. Let's see it.

There is only 1 player that could reasonably be picked ahead of Watson to build a franchise around, and Jets fans are trying to argue that the only way to build a contender is to have 4 1st round picks in the next 2 years. #2, '21 3rd round pick, '22 1st round pick, '23 1st round pick.

Right. So the Dolphins land Watson and add the additional pieces in ‘22. Then we get to face that twice a year for the next 10 years.

    Great.

yes if you account for age then realistically he's up there since it wouldn't be rodgers, brady or wilson. mahomes would be the top pick for sure. after mahomes though watson , allen, and jackson all have strong arguments. I said he's arguably top 5 in the NFL right now. arguably top 3 if you were to pick 1 QB to start a franchise. I'm not downplaying how good he is. but the reality is it's a pipe dream and unlikely to happen and if it did his cap and the picks we would give up could cripple the team going foward. watson wants out of houston because they suck. he couldn't help them win this year even with the great season he had. they will suck next year too. he knows this. at this point he'll end up like stafford. both Qbs are proof having a good QB won't make your team good. Building a solid all around team is the best way to go.

And guess what? Both can happen! Just can get Watson AND still build around him. They have enough picks and cap space over the next couple of seasons to do so. No one's discussing getting Watson and having 0 cap space and picks.

Imagine if Douglas saddles the Jets with Watson and his enormous contract, and we watch the Texans use our premium draft capital to rebuild their team and win the next 3 SBs with Justin Fields on his rookie contract.

the other thing to remember is dak is also a free agent. we could sign him and use the picks to build around him and still have money for some free agents but not quite as many. he's not watson good but he's close and only 27 and wouldn't cost us any draft picks.

watson would eat most of our picks and cap space. we'd be giving up at least 3 1sts and a 2nd and 40 mil in cap room starting in 2022.

I think very few teams would take Jackson over Allen or Watson at this point. Being able to throw the ball is sort of important for a QB.

No, you are downplaying how good Watson is. He's not arguably top 5 right now because no intelligent argument can be made for him not being in the top 5 RIGHT NOW. There's actually an argument to be made that if he was on a stable organization like the Chiefs he would be on track to be the best QB ever. And he's got a much more team friendly deal than Mahomes.

Deshaun Watson all time numbers as a 25 year old just entering his prime -
1st all time in completion percentage
    4th all time in yards/attempt
7th all time in passing yards/game (4th active)
    2nd all time adjusted yards/attempt
    7th all time net yards/attempt (2nd active)

Stafford is an example of a team that made terrible decisions in drafting, free agency, and coaching. This isn't a cautionary tale for the Jets to avoid Watson. The Jets have the cap space and the draft picks to acquire Watson AND surround him with talent. Of course they will still need to hit on their picks and signings, but that isn't an argument to avoid trading for Watson.

If it doesn't cost the Jets significantly more than 3 1st round picks spread over the next 3 drafts, it is a no brainer to get Watson on the Jets.

This isn't true. The Jets could still have at least 1 pick in each of the next 2 drafts. They would keep "most of our picks." Watson is on a team friendly deal and the Jets have the cap room to surround him with talent. They need to trade for Watson, and hit on their picks and signings just like they'd have to if he wasn't available.

Jets fans have developed Stockholm syndrome and their captor is sucking. The cap will increase when Watson's salary goes up to a still team friendly deal.

I already made one. brady rodgers and mahomes are the top 3. wilson is 4. after that you have dak, allen, jackson, and watson. you can argue watson should be in the top 5 you can also argue jackson and allen and dak would should be the 5 spot and not watson. you realize dak ? watson in 2019 by far and in 2020 was ahead of everyone by a ton before the injury shortened his season.

    2019
    dak 4902 yards 30 TDs 11INTs 65% completions 99.7QBR
    watson 3852 yards 26TDs 12INTs 67% completions 98QBR

watson was better in everything except completion % but the high yards shows why. he took way more shots downfield.

    2020 (1st 4 games)
    dak 1690 yards 9TDs 3INTs 68% completions 100+ QBR (full season projection 6760 yards 36 TDs 12INTs)
    Watson 1092 yards 6TDs 3INTs 65% completions 90+ QBR

dak has been by far better over the past 20 games then watson that they both played. he's also only 27 and a free agent. we could sign dak for the same price as watson and still have all our picks and be able to sign 1 big FA and some role players. which overall makes it a better option and besides that I could clearly argue he's top 5 making watson 6ish at best

Say a 1st round pick this year, one of the two 1st round picks next season and a 2023 1st round pick. That's spread out well, and you still have a 1st round pick this year and next. Jets have enough cap space to support Watson and more free agents. It's nowhere near as dire as you'd think.

Dak Prescott has always had an insane amount of talent around him, unlike Watson. There's a reason Watson is considered a top 3-5 QB in the NFL and elite that his team gave a long-term contract to, while Dak isn't considered elite and his team didn't either since they never signed him long-term (if they really believed in him, Dallas would have given him a long-term contract a long while ago).

Put Dak in Watson's situation this past season, and odds are, he doesn't come close to Watson's numbers.

factually correct. currently we have 5 1sts and 3 2nds in the next 3 years. watson would take 3 1sts and a 2nd from early reports so 4 of our top 8 picks over the next 3 years and worse off 3 of our top 5 picks (which is most) over the next 3 years.

as far as cap he's gonna count 40 million starting in 2022. he's cheap in 2021 but after that he'll account for 21+% of our cap. no team has ever won a SB with 1 player counting for 20% of their cap. most Qbs got a big payday after a SB win and never won another one. The only QB who won many was brady who took less money for that reason and at worse was only about 13% of the cap

it's exactly what the texans did for tunsil and look at them now. they have the QB but little in the way of draft picks and he cost a ton. it caught up to them and watson alone isn't enough to win.

I get it. fans want a top QB to brag about. it's sexy. it's exciting to watch. it doesn't win championships though. the texans were awful with watson this year putting on a near MVP performance. that should tell you all you need to know
