Well, that 52m is the bit I meant and for an FQB I dare say that is at least a fair wage if you take it over a 5-year average at around 29m. Nobody is going to do a Brady and take their cash under the counter for 10 years or whatever way the cheats topped him up from his ludicrously low salary.
There can't be this much smoke with no fire. I have to think Joe D is talking with Houston behind the scenes. I hope he is
I've come around to the wisdom of trading for Watson. If it costs 3 1s, I would be happy. Adding the 4th 1 gives me more pause though. I'd like to keep our 1 for next year preferably, or Seattle's 1 this year.
Whatever happens I hope he knows to walk the line appropriately so we don't get caught tampering. I know Jerry Jones is allowed to do it and all but Woody and Chris aren't.
I'm not going to get my hopes up. As a Knick fan, I went through this with KD and Kyrie, only for them to end up on the Nets. I don't think he gets traded here but I'm hoping its not the Giants or the Dolphins.
Maybe they'll take sam AND our #2 to use on a rook. Do what we're talking about, use sam for a year or so while the rookie gets his feet wet? makes sense!
I wonder which Jets players are reaching out to Watson, if any. Sam seems to be loved, so I doubt any O players. I can see Jamal reaching out (if he was still here). Anyone else?
How do you post a gif here? Because I wanna post the one where Michael Scott says he’s ready to get hurt again.
Didn’t realize it was the same for gifs as it was images. Thanks. And yes I’m ready to get hurt again.
I'm not in the "whatever it takes" camp at all. I'd give up the #2 pick, because that's a pick for a QB anyway, and maybe a 3rd and 4th rounder...but that's it. At the end of the day, I highly doubt that he's coming here. The price is just too steep.
I'd like to go on record saying that this Watson/agent situation with the Jets is giving me a whole lot like a douchey Rich Kleiman with the Knicks vibes.
Frankly I'd Ricky Williams the heck out of an offer as the reality is that in the sub-30 year old QB category the only player who trumps him is Mahomes. Problem is that we have to sell ourselves to Watson to get him to come here and that means retaining enough picks to show him we have an immediate future so he's not wasting his years here. The #2 pick this year seems a given and I'd happily chuck in the 3rd rounder from the Seahawks, a first next year (even if it's the lowest pick of the two) and some cap relief additions like Johnson, Cooks, Cobb (or even JJ!!!!) and let them take a pick of any player outside Becton and Q. If they don't want Darnold, and I can't see that they would, then I'd hope the experts are right and we can get a 2nd rounder back for him which might entice me into throwing in a third this year or a second the next.
It may not be a popular opinion but I don’t want the Jamal Adam version of QBs on the Jets. I get it he’s frustrated but he’s not the only player that has been on a bad team or mismanaged team. This nonsense of guys tweeting where they want to go, it’s not the NBA, if a guy can’t man up and be a leader and help get team over the hump but wants to bail, it reveals his character, personally I don’t want that for Jets.
