Not sure what is wrong with some of you. Give Houston ALL the picks and get Watson here NOW.

I balk at giving up the 2023 first rounder. I'd offer something comparable - a 2nd and a 5th? or maybe Darnold? - if push came to shove, I'd probably give in, but I really wouldn't want to leave us without a first round pick in any year.

I hope not Los. I don't want to take another team's problem and pay more than what we should. Deshaun is great. But he has a big contract. If we pay up more than #2 this year, we will lose our draft flexibility.

Now, I am not delusional. I know without a QB you don't have a team. But how far behind is Fields from Watson? A cheap Fields for 5+ years plus all picks is better than Watson and losing multiple picks.

I am glad we have Joe D and Saleh at the help. Two level headed folks. I will support whatever they decide to do regarding Watson.

Okay I'm going to write this in big bold font for extra emphasis.

We have the opportunity to trade for a future Hall of Fame quarterback who is 25 years old. Aside from Joe Namath, we've never had a quarterback anywhere near this good. And we're going to nitpick an extra draft pick or cap space or building a team the "right way," whatever that is? Trade for this beast!!!

One is a prospect with flaws and the other is a proven, top 5 NFL QB.

Now that isn't to take anything away from Fields as I do like him a lot, but to me, trading what is essentially 3 or 4 lottery tickets for a known commodity, especially one that is one of the best at the most important position in football is worth it. The Jets will still have plenty of picks and cap space in their war chest to tool this roster up. Our war chest would essentially drop down to a normal amount of draft picks and a solid amount of cap space.

i hear ya. Like I was thinking the #2 and next years Seattle #1... and Sam somthing like that...

i see some other things like 4 or 5 picks... which i think is pretty nuts...

i also dont really see JD being able to get him with a JD friendly package....

I’d be ok giving up pick 32 in 2023. I’d rather be without the pick in 2023 than give up say the two 1sts in this draft.

In reality though if we’re getting Deshaun Watson we are very likely winning the trade regardless of what the compensation ends up being.

All plans go out the window when a 25yr old top 5 QB suddenly becomes available.

Also in normal font. The cap space and draft picks are short to medium term factors. In a few to several years from now, if we have a future Hall of Fame QB still in the prime of his career, the picks and cap space from 2021 aren't going to matter much anymore. And one last point. The AFC is going to be stacked at QB for years to come with Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, and Trevor Lawrence. Watson will let us compete in the AFC and battle it out with the Bills for AFC East supremacy.

As much as I want this to be about the Jets, the original post was about the promotion of some product if you read the caption. More than likely, he liked it because of that.

It's going to be a long slow process now, and one that might go all the way to draft day as there's 3 (4 depending on your choice) QBs to sort out.

Darnold, fields/Wilson and the Watson situation.

Watson will take a while as they still have to hire the HC, and Watson will have to ask for a trade. Once he asks for that trade then it's a go.

Until then, I hope we're working hard on QB tape on all 4 of the above. Evaluate them all.

Watson is a once in a lifetime talent. Just read the Texans forums, no one wants him gone.

We are talking a Drew Brees, Aaron Rogers level talent here.

Out key thing is we can’t miss on a single pick but if it’s Jamal Adams and a first for Deshaun, you do it lol.

no combine this year either so not sure if we ready to gamble on QB. Think it’s Deshaun or Sam next year.

Well, I guess I might be in the "Nitpicker's Basket", but while I think giving up a substantial haul for him - say the #2, our second rounder this year, and the Seattle first next year, and MAYBE a second rounder in 2023, I don't think we should strip so much of our prime draft capital if at all possible. Frankly, giving up the #2 this year is like giving up two mid to low first rounders. I'd be very willing to give up Darnold instead of a draft pick or two. But while you can't - and shouldn't - count on losing Watson to severe injury, those things happen, and if it does, I don't want to be trying to find a QB in 2023 with no first round pick.

Bottom line: Watson's worth a LOT, but not an unlimited haul.
