This was amazing, thank you for this. I loved how he emphasized “play on their side of the line” I’m sure all HC want to control the line of scrimmage but to see how they develop the scheme, makes me believe Jets are going OL with second overall pick, as they need the big time OL players to make sure this scheme is successful.
John Benton - OL Coach and Run Game Coordinator https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Benton_(American_football) Benton has been an OL Coach for most of his career. He started out in the college ranks as a Grad Asst. at Colorado St. (his alma mater) from 1987-1989, then was at California Univ. as the Recruiting Coordinator from 1990-1994, then went back to Colorado St. as OL Coach from 1995-2002. He was then the Rams OL Coach from 2003-2005, the Texans' OL Coach from 2006 - 2013, then the Dolphins' OL Coach in 2014-2015, the Jaguars' Asst. OL Coach in 2016, and then the Niners' OL Coach from 2017-2020. Rex Ryan is not the GOAT. He's not Weeb either. He's Rex Ryan, Lord
I didn't know anything about the Jets's new assistants so decided to look them up. Greg Knapp Wiki - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Knapp Greg Knapp is an experienced coach, so I guess that is at least one area where he is bringing in an experienced coach. He's 57. Between 1986 and 1994, he was the RB Coach, WR Coach, Asst. HC and OC at Sacramento St. Between 1997-2003 he was the Offensive Quality Control Coach, QB Coach and OC for the NIners. He was the OC for the Atlanta Falcons from 2004-2006 and supposedly helped develop Michael Vick. He was the Raiders' OC in 2007-2008 and again in 2012. In 2009 he was the Seahawks' OC. In 2010-2011 he was the Texans OC and supposedly helped make Matt Schaub a better QB. From 2013-2016 he was the Broncos' QB Coach. He was the Falcons' QB Coach from 2018-2020.
SORRY FOR POSTING, I DIDN'T NOTICE IT WAS ALREADY POSTED. MODERATOR PLEASE REMOVE IF POSSIBLE I LIKE IT, SF OL COACH & A REAL QB COACH Jets head coach Robert Saleh isn’t just bringing Mike LaFleur from San Francisco’s offensive staff. According to Mike Silver of NFL media, Saleh is hiring 49ers offensive line coach John Benton to be New York’s offensive line coach/run game coordinator. Benton had been with the 49ers since Kyle Shanahan took over as head coach in 2017. He also worked with Saleh with Jacksonville in 2016 and with Houston from 2006-2010. Silver reports Saleh is also hiring former Falcons quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp to serve in the same position for the Jets. He and Saleh crossed paths with the 2010 Texans. And Rob Calabrese will be New York’s pass game specialist after spending the last two years as an offensive quality control coach for Denver.
gotta like how they were 2nd in rushing last season. Believe they suffered a ton of injuries to their RB’s this year. I do wonder if we stay with the more speedy type backs. Ty Johnson may definitely get a chance to start. Adams may stick. Another RB will join the stable, perhaps a kid in the draft.
Listen to my first podcast with Cannizzaro on the gang is all here. . What an uninspiring, uninterested, high pitch whiner. He contributed zilch one way or the other. It was like he was doing us a favor for participating. Turned that shit off after five minutes. God the NY media is such a bunch of dip shits.
Sam Darnold and Greg Knapp have a connection. Knapp was Peyton Manning's QB Coach when he won Super Bowl 50, which means he worked with Adam Gase. Knapp and Sam can break the ice by giving each other their best Gase stories!
I like all of the specialty coaches. Run game coordinator, pass game specialist, etc. Seems to be a rising trend in the NFL and I'm glad we're joining in. It can never hurt to have more quality eyes looking at the tape.
I can't mention it enough, I LOVE how we are so under the radar on these coaching hires and with everything we're doing. No one has mentioned anything about who they're interviewing for DC right now....apparently interviews are lined up with several coaches per Albert Breer but no names except one.
