Deshaun Watson's contract. Unless we plan on going to the SB next season.

His contract is going to be the low end of franchise QB contracts in a few years

He is on the low end this year. It gets worse from there.

For once I’d like to see the Jets just stick to the process instead of getting sidetracked by a shiny new toy.

This is gonna be the problem. The Dolphins are far and away the better situation and they are already rumored as his top suitor. No state income tax, a 10-win team, established culture, etc. It would take a lot to convince Watson to want to join the Jets if Miami is an option. Thank you Adam Gase.

He’s got a no trade clause. He’s going to try to leverage that to get a new deal. That may be a part of all this.

This is not free agency. The Texans have some power in this too. They may want to trade him to the NFC.

From what we have seen so far JD isn't an amateur.

TGG might be turning into Dan Snyder but I doubt JD is.

If Dan Snyder could trade for an elite 26 year old QB and still have all but one first round pick in the next 5-7 years, he'd have been a hero.

The Texans hold the ultimate chip by saying no to any deal that is offered, no trade clause or not.

If we are the only team that offers something and he wants out as badly as it seems.

And the Texans have him signed to a contract and control his rights. They could tell him to sit out like they did Duane Brown.

Because marketing/endorsements/bright lights big city/Frank Sinatra/Jay-Z/Carvel Ice Cream/that fart smell that never leaves North Jersey/JB Smoove/Joe Namath/etc. At least that's always the argument for any player wanting to come to a team with no established track record for winning and a roster made from swiss cheese.

If it comes down to "I'm not playing " or "trade me to the team I want and you'll still get a ton of picks out of it" I bet you the Texans fold immediately.
