Chicken Schwarma platters with falafels on the side are my favorite.

Thanks for the notes man. As a fan of another franchise that is likely pretty disconnected from Jets world - what do you think of Sam Darnold? Would you want him? What would you give up for him or estimate his value to be?

Hope this doesnt. Dampen the enthusiasm but just watched the Saleh interview on inside the lines. Says he would love to bring back Adam Gase as a coordinator.
    His direct quote:
" A head coach is only as good as the staff he surround himself with. If by any chance Adam is not hired as a head coach, he would be my first choice. While I an very confident in Mike's (LaFleur )
ability to command the offense, I firmly believe Adam Gase is by far the best candidate for the DC position. I have never seen anyone completely shutdown an offense the way Adam has done the past 3 seasons"

Seems like Richard Sherman coming to the NYJ is a foregone conclusion.

I’m ok with that . He has one more season in him and would be a good guy for Hall to be around.

Unless the HC assembles a good staff. Then you promote from within and there is no loss of continuity.

Exactly where I was going with that point. I would like to piggy back to your thinking in addressing the Sam situation from my view point..
First off, for some reason, many fans here seem to think that by hiring Saleh and our new OC, disciples of the Shanahan system which is known for developing a play book to maximize the best out of a QB, is a de facto belief that Sam potential is high and that the plan is to mold Sam into the long term solution. Not so fast. For all we know Sam might not even be the short term answer at this point. I'm convinced the plan moving forward is to keep several options open and leverage both the draft and free agency. JD and the new CS are smart enough to know that based on the body of work to date, Gase impact and all, it would be crazy to declare Sam is our guy. He might have a chance, may be, that is about it.
Thus, the real question to me is where do they want to go with the options in this year draft? Sam should not be a factor in us not getting a top QB in the draft if we see one. How sold are we on Fields first off? Do they find him worthy of investing the second pick? Do they want to trade down a bit to strike on the one they really like, like Wilson or Lance? Are they looking for a plug and play vet for a year while they develop our new rookie QB? What is the value of Sam in the open market? All we know for a fact is this team need more options than Sam and Morgan.
I do believe that at the end of the day, when training camp opens, we will have a high potential QB from the draft, along with Morgan, Sam and or may be even another vet. At there will be a competition in earnest. IMO, Sam is far from the final answer at this point.

Did you see him during the SB? He was victimized for a big gain that allowed KC to take the lead, I would prefer to stay away from aging veterans on their last legs.

One other note, of course The new coach and OC are going to say, “Darnold is our guy” or “ Going to stick with him” even if they don’t think he is the guy for potentially trading and draft purposes...

Maybe they think Darnold is a good fit and will improve, great! Let’s not assume the Jets are going to not draft a QB wherever in the draft selection.

Not too worried about SB appearances right now.

We need to worry about 8-8 first.

But the point is the Jets are an extremely young team and need veteran leadership to serve as additional "coaches"

The funny thing is, neither Douglas or Saleh has said anything at all regarding Darnold. Douglas was very non committal when asked about Darnolds future.
The media speculation that the Jets keep Darnold one more year began long before Saleh was hired or even in contention.

Then hire Sherman as a DB coach, no need to waste money on players who are just hanging on, we saw it with Revis, Cromartie, and Claiborne.

i can definitely imagine it. not saying it would be wise

Marvin is something like assistant DC under Herm now. if he wants back in at the pro level that might be his only option -- think of Mike Woodson in NBA. He was a fairly effective head coach but has only been a (pretty good) assistant since. he's self made and loaded and not coaching for the money. he just loves the game

Maybe Marvin is in the same boat. I was only suggesting as an example given your (wise) comment about Wade Phillips. WOuld be good to have some experience on the staff to be a resource when needed
