I predict that once the first offer is accepted by a coach, the process is exponentially faster towards closure.
Exactly! The Falcons may have had no choice. Smith might be just as interested in the Jets as the Falcons and the Jets may have genuine interest in Smith. I can't blame the teams or coaches for taking their time, especially since they hadn't had in-person interviews or seen the facilities. We also don't know how long or in-depth the 1st interviews were on Zoom. Teams may have waited until the candidates came in to do the whiteboard work or other facets of the interviews. The interpersonal thing is huge. They have to see how well their personalities mesh, if they like the other person, etc. It isn't just about Xs and Os or their resume.
I don't think it would have been wise to sign any candidate without even meeting with any others first. It screams desperation and insecurity. There are, realistically, maybe 1 or 2 other landing spots for Saleh. He's not enough of a risk to sign with someone for us to forgo interviewing anyone else because of it.
Spot on, and like wise, for Smith and other top choices. After the second interview, the full court press is on.
yeah, the ones who seem to talk snesible football IS A SHORTER list, but it dont work that way... :-(
I think he put both Johnson brothers in headlocks with each arm at the same time and it made them sad......
Who said anything about flying somewhere? They met til midnight and then met again today. I'm not really sure what your point is.
Nothing went wrong imo. He left and will take the eagles interview and weigh his options. Frankly speaking, he would be an idiot not to do that. I would do the same
they met til midnight so he obviously stayed local so they met again...normal process. Youre using the overnight stay as reason for being nervous but its not
I mean I'm using 25 years of rooting for this team as the reason for being nervous in reality. Hopefully it just turns out to be an overreaction on my part in the end. I'd be thrilled if it ends up that way.
After all we have been through as Jet fans it is only natrual to expect the worst. But, Douglas is different. He is a pro, he gets it and seems to be running things quite efficiently. Unlike previous FO he seems to know what he is doing. So there is some hope. Trust in JD!!!
Probably right, and I'd definitely respect him keeping word to other teams to at least meet before deciding. Still tho, can you remember a time a HC or FA option left the building to meet with other teams, but still ended up coming back to sign? There probably are some examples, but it doesn't happen often. One thing going for us, 2020/21 has changed a lot of norms so it may be more possible than usual.
I'm trying man, I am. It's funny because I used to come here and shit on people who acted like me but the last 2 years have broken me as a fan.
