If we could get him at 38 I'd be good with that. I don't see Jones making it past NE, Chicago, and Washington. Maybe even Pitt. might take him. Personally I want more then two #2s though. I would go the most risky and attempt 4C:2. We'd get a lot of picks and could then cash out 3 mid rounders in to get the Saints #1 next season. They are in cap hell after this year and need rookie talent bad. Plus they only have 3 picks this draft.
I wouldn't take a RB that early personally. what have barkely and c-mac done for their teams? great players but we have other needs. sermon is a 3rd round talent. i wouldn't mind him in the 3rd. Master teague could be had in the 7th if he comes out. Campbell is a CB but i really like him.
McCaffrey was a force on their offense until he got hurt. He does it all. Harris and Sermon are both better versions of that. I don't think we need to consider a CB until maybe the 3rd round, if then.
late round RBs are easy to find. CBs not much. sermon is a 3rd rounder harris is a 2nd rounder. your reaching hard if you take either in the 1st. It would be awful by JD. There are no 1st round ranked RBs this year. taking one in the top 15 would be a disaster. on top of that here is a list of free agent RBs who would all be pretty cheap to sign drake, gurley, coleman, white, brieda, mike davis (who filled in very nicely for c-mac), hyde, fournette, yeldon no way we waste a top pick on a RB. i'd say the earliest we use one is 4th if harris or sermon or hubbard slide that far which is possible for sermon or hubbard. I think harris goes late 2nd early 3rd.
I agree-- trade down. Look at potential #2 players--You got a premiere OL (Sewell), Heisman WR (Smith), and two top 5 QBs (Fields and Wilson) there to ransom. Douglas will get offered a lot, and use the other teams against each other. If there was EVER a haul to made trading down at #2, it is 2021.

Brian Billick was just on WFAN, did an extensive report on the 2018 QB class for some book. He said he thinks Sam lacks that clutch gene. Basically said he's not the guy without openly saying it. Also, said Fields was more in the mold of Lamar Jackson in the sense he can't truly control the pocket. It's either Zac Wilson or Sam imo next year.

I would work the phones in an attempt to fleece two teams on the way to the sweet spot at # 10. Atlanta and Dallas both want to move up to get a new leader for their team. If an non-QB is the pick at # 3 both teams can get shiny new QBs at pciks # 2 & 4 respectively. The trade value chart would have Atlanta giving their second and third round picks this year. With Dallas our first and fifth round picks should get us their second and fourth round picks according to the chart. Since both teams want QBs we can probably get a little more than the chart indicates. Bigger, sure. Better is quite the statement about a couple of running backs expected to go day 2 in comparison to an all-pro.
great idea! my only comment is that i do NOT want them to draft any qb from usc, ucla, or ohio state. the last ohio state qb who won anything was otto graham? 70 years ago. the last usc qb who won anything was tom flores, a backup qb in the 70s for the raiders, the most recent qb from ucla who ever won anything was troy aikman? if they pick a qb, go with byu, or wait until later in the 1st round or later rounds.
Maybe not faster, but they both looked pretty damned fast to me. Of course that was against college level players, albeit top level college talent. Still, I stand by my assessment that both these guys are more than just run of the mill RBs, they're all around weapons. And by that I don't mean "jack of all trades, master of none" types - they each are great receivers and great runners. I honestly don't know who I would take if my choice was one of these guys, Smith, or Pitts. All of them are big time impact players, and the Jets need at least one of them.
Fair enough, but keep in mind that many predicted that McCaffrey himself might be taken late in the first round.
i certainly am not being heavily critical of these RBS. only pointing out my obsrevations on quickness/burst as compared to mcaff. it'll be interesting to see what they can do at the NFL level, for sure.
This is a bad argument. Who was the last great Oregon QB before Herbert? What about LSU before Burrow? Those two guys just had two of the better rookie QB seasons ever. And since when is BYU a QB factory? Wouldn't your same logic dictate that we should avoid Wilson?
