The discussions that JV and I have had about TL and JF are within the frame work of one QB having 3 full seasons as a starter and the other having 1 1/2 years as a starter.

It’s not just based on one or two games.

I’m not a J Fields fan, and I hope Jets do not select him with the number two pick, however I agree with you that Smith is not a number 2 overall pick either.

I would like that too but like the title says they won't. The Jets philosophy has been so off for a few decades. They just ignore the offense and wonder why they don't win games.

IMO if a team is looking for a few final pieces then Smith would be a strong #2 pick. But most teams picking in the top 5 need more then a few pieces, except Miami. If Cinn doesn't get Sewell I'm sure they will target Smith next. Both are blue chip prospects that could help Burrow thrive.

I agree with this but I don't think Smith is the move at 2. I think if you like Fields or Wilson you pick them at 2 and if not you trade back, still get a QB in the first round, and use the other picks mainly to surround him with talent on offense.

if we somehow sign Godwin or Robinson I would think abo
I know a lot about Pitts and i have watched him he is amazing that doesn't take away from my view and opinion and I respect yours. I stand by what I said I didn't say he didn't have Yac during this season I was talking about if he was with us and we have no weapons on the outside. He would be game planned for and wouldn't have the same Yac he usually does. If we have no WRs and hes the number one target what do you think the D is going to do? Thats why i said that im looking at it full picture. At no time did I say he wasn't good or not worthy of the pick I just think it doesnt help our Offense because of the lack of WRS.

The more I look at Smiths numbers the more I like him. He averaged nearly 17 yard per catch over 4 years. I also like that he has played 4 years. I've only seen him play twice but he absolutely does have that Jerry Rice feel. You cant cover him one on one, he murders zones, plus he works hard and keeps his head down like RIce. I think he is going to be a bigtime player.

No way JD takes him at 2, but if he did I wouldn't cry too loud - and I'm the one chanting o-line endlessly.

The Jets will probably trade down as they should. But that defensive tackle would make a good partner for Williams on the line.

Yeah, because we broke our streak of taking DLs with our first pick and need to get that going again.

Wasn't much of a teammate either.
Slow, selfish, diva of a player will never elevate a team.

Terrible use of a #1 overall pick, but we at least suckered Tampa into two 1sts..

You know it's bad when Berrios is your top WR heading into a game.
    Berrios.
He wouldn't even make many teams outside of the Jets.

We might. But we for sure have the worst QB in the NFL and that's a way more important position than WR.

Sure, but the point was we had good WRs and did not need Smith that bad... well our WR room doesn’t scare anyone, and literally no NFL talent. Crowder fine, but mim’s. Is an if, and Perriman not consistent. So after that, the room leaves nothing. Of course Darnold was not good either, maybe cause the WR room was bare most games! I think it played into it, but Darnold might have been bad regardless with Gase.

Wait until the Jets do their thing in FA. If they can fill some needs that way the draft is a bonus.

We are in a bad spot. Nobody wants the number 2 pick.Fields sucked it up. Smith has size issues,Sewell has not played in a yr and we already have a stud tackle. everybody wants to be in the 4-12 range of this draft. Another JD mistake. Also not coaching the senior bowl. Another JD mistake, ou can hit on the first two rds of the, ut to be able to coach and see how the mid rds of the draft do with your coaching staff is invaluable. Depth and coachability especially this yr when so many teams did not even play games is a key yet the dolphins beat us again

Miami was bad, but there was one game we had berrios and some guy named smith as our starters. I don’t think Miami could rival that.

How did he suck it up when he was half himself hurt and still kept his team in the game in the first half at the very least. His D played horrible and allowed 200 yards to one WR in the first half. Sorry i dont see that as Fields being horrible in any way when he was clearly still injured and we are def not in a horrible spot. That makes no sense, we either like someone enough at 2 and stay or trade out and get more assets. In no way is having the number 2 pick in the draft a bad thing, is it number 1 no but its next best.
