Just read a stat that the Jets avg TDs per year over the last 5 years is 27.4 dead last in the NFL. Hopefully this changes with our new coach starting in 2021.
God that is dreadful, worse than you think and that may still include the record breaking Fitz season, hell when that drops off the count it will plummet further into the abyss
Who else is a strong contender to get him? All we've heard is that he allegedly botched the Lions interview.
Did he? When did we hear that btw? I read a guy worried he would choose Detroit over us due to hometown loyalty
It was a couple days ago, I don't remember the source. Garafolo also said today that it's "Jets or bust" for Saleh meaning we're his only real option. Do we really want to hire the guy everyone else rejected?
Somebody gave an example before of an Offensive HC and his D was better than O and oobviouley vice versa for the D OC. But will it matter if we are implementing a COE HC with an independent OC/DC under him. Tbh I am not sure how that works and when does the HC step in on play calling in that scenario. Take it easy on a Brit lol
Interesting as that seems to be the opposite of what was being said in this thread to the other similar one earlier on, it was being said 4 teams were all over him and if we didnt lock him up after the interview then we likely lose him.
Or maybe he doesn't want to coach anyone else. Personally, I don't care what other teams do. Hire who is best for *your* team.
Well that example was ONE as compared to many (I'm not going to go and do the research to give an exact count, but as I pointed out, our last three coaches were coordinators (or in the case of Gase, a self-described "specialist) who failed to deal with the entire team. This is more the norm than the exception. Maybe Saleh (or Smith) will prove to also be exceptions, and if one of them becomes our HC I pray they do, but the odds are against this. I'm not saying they will fail, but it's a big risk.
Could be but the wording of the tweet definitely made it sound like we're Saleh's only real option. It prefaced that by saying Saleh was originally thought to be a lock for the Lions job but that is no longer the case. That would line up with the "botched interview" rumor we heard a couple days ago.
Saleh. The guy's defenses speak for themself especially this year when they were annihilated by injuries and still very good. Also his players and Shanahan gush over him. He's a leader of men. I think he's exactly what the Jets need.
If we hire Saleh, we're going to run the 49ers Offense which means Darnold will stay. We'll become a run-heavy offense (Mike Lafleur would be OC most likely) which means we're going to take Sewell and possibly Harris in the 1st round.
Either way, I think the guy is a really good football coach and players love him. I absolutely love the energy he brings, I know if I had a coach like that on the sideline, I'd run through a brick wall.
