Weeb lived in the town where I went to undergrad in the early 80s. I would seem him walking around all the time often with a little umbrella and a suit. He looked so tiny. Being a Jet fan going to school in the midwest I was likely one of the few people that recognized him. I don't think I ever got the courage to say anything to him other than hello in passing. I wish I did.
Seems impossible, but I was all of eleven years old that day, and I'm not a young man anymore. People only a few years younger than me probably have no memory of the game.
Historic moment that changed the landscape of the NFL forever, but it was also a great game overall. The Jets defense was masterful, but so was the offense with ball control and time of possession. The Jets had a plan and they executed it to perfection. Maybe one day the Jets can do it again.
I think more so then watching the game, if ANYONE HAS NOT SEEN THIS, they should watch America's Game Super Bowl 3 team documentary by NFL films, here it is in full video 45 minutes. "We did it" You'll have to watch it on youtube, not from the site here. It plays there
I watched every minute of it. I went to many the home games that year. Got standing room tickets for $5 at the mid-town office. Watched the AFC Championship at a bowling alley because it was not televised in the city. Great game! Hope to live to see another SB victory.
