I would sign Dak in a heartbeat but you have to be 100% sure he’s recovered health wise or your franchise is dead for years

Dallas rarely moves up in the draft.. I doubt they do it with their D being a dumpster fire..

Wilson is going to be a bust. His nickname is the Mormon Johnny Manziel... He’s a rich kid (Dad owns jet Blue) that is apparently a total douch... He has a live arm but with the injuries to his shoulders, didn’t play anyone in college and the douch factor he has BUST!!! Written all over him!!!

It’s Fields or Trade back. That’s for JD to figure out.

To me, Fields at #2 is simply a no brainer. Even today, about the same performance from Fields as Lawrence put up in last year's title game. Not terrible, but not very good. Played with broken ribs too and was severely limited. Still ran for 70+ yards, had a TD pass and no TOs. Could have had 2 more TD passes if receivers did a bit better. I know people were excited after Clemson game for him to have another great game, but it was a long shot, given the injury and the opponent. I doubt the guy was even able to practice much for this.

Yes, there were mistakes made, yet the mistakes are correctable. If you look at physical attributes, big, strong, accurate guy, incredible speed, with cannon of an arm ... it's all there. He has single digits INTs in two years against top competition. You take this guy, give him to a good coach, and he will correct the mistakes, because there are not too many of them if you look at entire body of work. I mean he just played against two best teams in the nation with broken ribs and put up 7TDs, 1INT, and 64% completion. 2 losses in two years, in finals and semifinals of play-offs. If you are not impressed with fully body of work for him, coupled by elite physical attributes, you won't be impressed by pretty much anyone.

With his contract, they'd be dead anyway, and it would take years to build around him.

I'd rather bring Geno Smith back. At least he's cheap and they can dump him after a year. No way I'm signing on for Dak.

1 game doesn't change anything for me, Alabama is a great team with a psycho great coach, 2 weeks ago Lawrence looked ordinary vs a better team....Wilson or Fields at 2 , Darnold has shown nothing in 3 years here, give the new coach, a new rookie QB, start over, start fresh!

Good post...the Morning After brings clarity...what can you expect versus high level of competition for Fields???

Nick Saban is lucky..he essentially has an NFL level team playing college football... its a joke!...I mean 60 percent of Alabama players are drafted every year..smh

You can't trade down when the QB situation here has suxed for 3 years...to be clear GOING BACKWARDS with SD and giving him D Smith is a big mistake

FTMR, Other than getting a GOAT like Tom Brady reaching for any Vet is not the way to build this team

That won't be a popular opinion for some on here, but I don't disagree.

I know I'm probably gonna get killed here, but why is no-one talking about Devonta Smith at #2 and Mac Jones at #23 ? Smith is a game changer, a Wayne Chrebet type, and Mac Jones has to be the most under rated QB in the draft and will probably slip down the board. He has good pocket presence, footwork, vision, and a decent arm, and he's not interception prone. He'd be an upgrade from Sam at a decent price. I know conventional wisdom is you don't take a receiver that high, but this kid is special. He's all business and hasn't got an ounce of quit in him.

Because Mac Jones is surrounded by all world talent. Jeudy (last year), Smith, Waddle, Harris. That OL has what, 2 pros on it already?

Also, in regards to your WR comment - you can find WRs throughout the entire draft. DK Metcalf and AJ Brown both went at the end of the 2nd a few years ago. Justin Jefferson was the best rookie WR in the league and he was picked at 21 or 22. It just isn't worth the second overall pick on a WR. If Douglas doesn't want to take a QB at 2, sure. Drop down to 5-6 and grab someone like Chase, but you can't justify it at 2 - Smith isn't Megatron.

I hear ya, I just don't think Smith is going to last that long, and even though everything you said here is true, I still think your under valuing Jones a bit. His decision making is solid and he doesn't make a lot of mistakes. His mechanics are good and he's pretty accurate. Those are the traits that Sam and Sanchez didn't seem to have consistently. I see Jones as a Pennington type with a better arm. At one time, that's all Jets fans wanted. We never got it.

Mac Jones is not the type of guy you draft in the first round. He doesn’t have any first round traits from either a mobility/arm talent standpoint. You are drafting him purely on production that is impossible to put in context. He’s got at least four 2021 first round picks on offense with him, and more guys who will be future first round picks.

Loving all this talk about Allen, Mayfield, Watson and even Mahomes.

Not sure how we plan to recruit them for next year so in a question of is Fields on a rookie deal better then Sam entering his 4th year and option.............give me Fields.

Fields is a slow processor. That's a challenging thing to improve. Can't afford to miss on first round picks. It's not exciting but they should take Sewell.

I like Fields but I also like Lance and Wilson. I wouldn’t be opposed to trading down from 2 for a non-Qb ( Smith or Pitts) and trading up from 23 for Lance or Wilson.

I wonder where we will need to be get Lance. Ahead of Washington or maybe NE. I really like Lance's mechanics. He throws so pretty from the pocket, seems to have good footwork and such a sound base. From the little I have seen he looks to have the best mechanics of the three.
