You're also describing physical specimens and not a 6'1" 175 narrow framed kid. He's far from a sure bet to stay healthy with his frame. Megatron and Julio were massive college receivers.
Smith isn't outright dominating these guys. OSU was clueless on defense in the first half. I still think Chase will be the first WR off the board.
We gotta look at entire body of work. Fields having an OK game while injured against top team in nation should still keep him at #2.
I think it'd be pretty crazy to take a WR at 2 in a draft that's loaded with talent at the position when we also have picks 23 and 34. There's also a real good chance we spend big on a WR in free agency so I don't think it'll be nearly as desperate of a need by the draft.
first time i'm watching fields and simply not impressed. missing a wide open guy in the endzone, forcing into coverage. had a nice run for sure though. what am i missing? not saying to draft Mac, but he's at least hitting guys in stride D. Smith looks exciting. whether he's worth #2 have no idea. what is interesting is the textbook example of how Alabama uses motion to help their QB (and WR) better determine when it's man coverage. We could use some of that! there's a lot of misinformation and mis-reads about the greatness of college QBs: suck for sam tank for tua not saying that will happen this year, but if it does i will not be surprised. I hope we don't force the situation
this team is so devoid of talent an average QB you reached for at 2 ain’t getting you anywhere. I trust JD but he needs bodies. Lots of them. this rebuild is in the first inning. I want a QB in the 3rd or 4th. We are 2 years away from even giving a rookie QB a fighting chance.
Drafting DeVanta would be the definition of drafting BPA. If not for those pesky QBs he could go #1 overall.
You clearly don't understand how difficult it is to draft a QB when you have a better roster and are drafting lower. ALL QBs have warts. Fields is better than most. If we don't have a QB that keep opponents honest, we aren't going to be able to run the ball down teams' throats. The only thing we agree on is Smith being too thin.
